Have to go with Mithraism for its being orig Persion and rooted in Zoroastrianism, and all its weird branches of path on its way to being a Roman warrior cult in Britain. More later, busy sacrificing ox.

my dad told me once he visited this cult type situation in vermont in the 80s where the leader had been a college basketball player and he taught his students through basketball like he would stop a game in the middle and point out how someones neurosis was manifesting in the game - of course the guy was much better at basketball than everyone else and it wasnt really fair - so i vote for the basketball cult
