I have gotten his book out of the library and read some of it and it seems pretty good, but unfortunately I took a lot of books out of the library and return them unfinished.

RIP. Did not know about Under Capricorn. Wish I had bought the one copy of that book they had at The Strand.

Need to watch Sons and Lovers; always found it hard to picture Trevor Howard as Mr. Morel.

I guess UC was after Rope?

Ah. That's highly significant.

Wow, long confessional take like something out of Ingmar Bergman.

I guess Hitch did a Billy Wilder and disowned it because it was a flop, but looks worth investigating.

Forgot about this thread so we had a very brief discussion about that documentary over here instead: The Archers (Powell & Pressburger): S/D

I hope they eventually get to JC reading Stallone the riot act over lighting issues.

That blogger is working cinematographer so I doubt he will go there. Just want through all four parts and didn't see anything. Now to see what he has to say about John Alton.

"Girl On A Motorcycle". Apparently the first ever X movie in the USA. Goes all solarized during the sex scenes though, so you can't actually see much. Anyway I'd forgotten how boring this film is and how much of it consists of Marianne Faithfull riding around on a Harley D looking winsome with a gormless grin on her face while chuntering away endlessly in the voiceover. Looks nice though.

lol that is pretty much exactly what I was worried this movie would be like, so thank you for a genuinely useful post

Tom D otm, maybe in '68 the racy material may have passed muster, but looks quite dull and quaint now.

Still did give one of the best posters of all time.
