"Fuck It Up" from Black Bubblegum rules. Song of the summer.

a lot of his songs that i've heard sound really awesome when they begin, but leave me quite bored by the time they are over. i like the sounds he uses.

i wish he would release his lyrics, although on the most recent one you can understand what he's saying ~70% of the time...
love all of his artwork though, especially his collages:

I always forget how much I loved Alien in a Garbage Dump - I think my failure to follow through on artists who make music I like is mainly a function of age & parenthood but I never said, oh, what else did that guy do? The new one is pretty cool to my ear today - but Strange Days, which I've never heard til now, has that feel Alien had - of just being weird-but-pleasant, kind of - like, oddball stuff that feels so welcome in its weirdness to me.

EC has no internet presence at all so every three months i go on discogs to see if he's put out anything new, this came out a couple weeks ago: https://www.discogs.com/Eric-Copeland-Brooklyn-Banks/release/9428304
it's sweet, probably the best of the dance stuff he's done

Not that psyched on Goofballs. it's his third album in a row of dance music, and by far the most drab & colorless. Really straightforward four on the floor beats with really basic bass grooves and very few melodic leads or elements. I don't understand why he turned this one into DFA - by far his biggest label/distributor - instead of the brilliant Brooklyn Banks, which was only released in Germany and limited to 300 copies. That one is sooooo fucking good, just really exciting and charming and eccentric dance music. This one is just kinda boring. I mean, it's still an Eric Copeland album, I fuck with it, but it's my least favorite of his last three (which lol, doesn't include Black Bubblegum, that was four albums ago).
