so...that little faraway look Tyrion gives in that scene with Dany...we are to presume he just realized he's falling in love with her?

felt like he felt appreciated for who he was for the first time in his life, a kind of love maybe but not romantic

i appreciated the finale executing a bunch of characters but i half expect them to come back as green fire zombies or some shit

goole, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:01 (seven years ago) link

My point was more that the audience shouldn't be very intrigued by this development. The fact that they (the Lannisters) are broke never got resolved either afaik so there's really nothing going for her. I guess she can finally go after Snow White now that she has the right outfit for it.

Jaime perhaps is likely more rattled by the fact that she actually carried out the thing he explicitly stopped by killing the last person that threatened to do it, however more isolated it was (Mad King was trying to blow up the whole city iirc)

wouldnt be surprised to see some sort of jaime-cersei murder suicide in one of the final two seasons

Zombies are strictly a north of the wall thing and Mountain is more Frankenstein's monster as the one exception south of it.

on the real tho i wonder if jon's resurrection will be cost-free or if he'll start to rot like benjen

benjen's statement that the wall has great magic to keep zombies from passing seems to obviate a lot of problems, idk

goole, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:11 (seven years ago) link

She may not care but what can she possibly do. Shouldn't take too long for the united armies of the South and East to sail directly to King's Landing so there isn't much time either.

xp

i hope jon rots and his face falls of then a dog eats it but the dog takes off its face and its arya and she says "just havin a laff love" and then they both laugh and the place where jons face was is oozing puss and blood which just makes them laugh harder then danny looks at them with a super haughty expression and they stop laughing but only for a second

Benjen wasn't simply brought back to life he was sort turned into a half wight as well. Different category. Otherwise Ser Beric Dondarrion would have some serious issues by now.

Evan, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:14 (seven years ago) link

yeah does benjen's wall chat mean that everyone can relax and the wall will take care of things?

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:22 (seven years ago) link

presumably the wall is coming down but the show has not at all seeded that possibility the way the books have

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:23 (seven years ago) link

how did the books do it

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:24 (seven years ago) link

jon: "just wish our old friend wall could talk, some of the stories he'd tell!!"

wall: "THE KING IN THE NORTH"

laughter.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 27 June 2016 17:25 (seven years ago) link

i hope the night king leads his army to the wall and gives a really impassioned patriotic speech there to his walkers, like "come here to this gate. Mr. Snow, open this gate. Mr. Snow, tear down this wall!"

nomar, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:25 (seven years ago) link

zombie hoards march to the wall
stand around smoking for a while
decide to get some dinner

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:27 (seven years ago) link

there is a subplot to mance and friends north of the wall where they are trying to find a legendary horn that will bring the wall down when it is blown. there are other related bits of lore scattered but that is the main thrust of it

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:32 (seven years ago) link

night king gon get that horn

Jaime going to add Queenslayer to his curriculum vitae imo, has prophetised by witch (Mel?) in the hut a couple seasons ago.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:57 (seven years ago) link

skipped last couple seasons, watched the last two episodes - the ascendance of various redemptive female figures made me think maybe there is something thematically going on about the age of men passing before an age of women, altho Jon Snow's continual presence obfuscates that a bit, so maybe not.

also show is still best described as expensively gratuitous ie tons of money spent in the service of a ton of narratively/structurally unnecessary gore/violence/nudity it gets p tiresome

Οὖτις, Monday, 27 June 2016 18:09 (seven years ago) link

The part where the little kids stab Pycelle to death was pretty gratuitous (not money-wise, but just unnecessary). Like, just becuase these kids do some spying for Qyburn doesn't mean they are up for shivving a dude.

schwantz, Monday, 27 June 2016 18:11 (seven years ago) link

Pycelle was a threat to Qyburn ... now Qyburn can have his job.

xpost yeah but why wouldn't he ask? i guess he is stupid.

feel like the "the king in the north" chant could have gone on a bit longer. like maybe they could have all kept chanting it and then gone outside and walked around for a while, with more people joining in, until they eventually tired themselves out.

After a few more muffled words, closed captioning revealed that Lyanna said to Ned: “If Robert finds out, he’ll… You know he will Ned. Promise me you’ll protect him. Promise me.”

I know you guys are all into your maps and plotholes and shit but really this show exists entirely for one thing: money shots involving the inflicting of violence. It's about on the level of b-level gore movies in that way, it's just dressed up in ren faire finery and cgi
