the whole "ned starks blood runs through his veins" was a little on the nose after the reveal in the tower of joy but yeah

neat shot pairing of cersei's red keep vista followed later by tommen's

I liked the ned stark's blood line after the reveal. "On the nose" could be the subtitle for this whole ep and I'm fine with that

tommens was a death foretold but I was genuinely surprised at how they got to it

Anybody else get a very Terry Gilliam-esque vibe from a lot of these scenes? Obviously the one when Sam applies in person for Maester University, but others too

also let's not forget that arya didn't just kill walder frey she straight butchered his sons. damn girl

Am generally cool with the travelling time absurdities of the past few seasons but Varys being on the boat was a bit too much even for me.

Can't believe they've set up a situation where Littlefinger could actually get to the throne, even if it I suspect it would only be for about 7 minutes.

mostly just keeping track of how they're killing off and simplifying the cast of characters. Some very advantageous situations

I do agree the apparent speed of Varys' boat beggars the medieval fantasy imagination. I'm only half kidding, I would have given that a half raspberry had I already not used up all my THPPPBFFT on the "this brown-eyed baby equals Jon Snow" shot transition

Teleporting varys raised eyebrows but so did teleporting arya

varys back and forth from mereen is a bit teleporty, but braavos to westeros in a week or so aint a thing

nah I disagree. Braavos to The Twins is a short punt compared to Meereen to Dorne and then back again. I can get with Varys having a hotline on the Millennium Falcon of the GoTverse though

dothraki puking is for first ep next season imo. this show though they're just hauling rope around deck because that's the only job they're checked out on

Also the shot of tommen surveying the burning sept, leaving the frame, then coming back and jumping was a total Wes Anderson flourish

varys being in the final shot seems like a "well we shot it already who cares" continuity error --- like, it doesn't matter at all, plot-wise. he's either in dorne when they arrive, or he's on the boat when they get there. it was just a way to have the squad framed up in a dramatic way

arya blipping over in record time would've been an issue, except that it actually seems plausible and nbd

this was a big "thin the heard ep" and i was into it. am hoping maybe the boat w the sand snakes on it capsizes and they die at sea

It was kinda silly leading the sparrow down into the cellar n stabbing him in the kidney, so transparently done for the excuse of having a narrative pov down there for when the baelfyre explodes

also do they even have pipe organs and pianos in Westeros

As for varys teleporting- we are supposed to keep in mind that these scenes aren't all necessarily happening all within the same timeframe. We didn't just see "a few days" of events. Some scenes may have taken place a month after the scenes prior.

Margery, tommen, lorris, cousin cersei had sex with that time, mace Tyrrell, old man + untold other freys, sparrow and basically that whole religion plus a city block

In the books the reason Varys moves between continents so fast is because he is a really good swimmer.

It wasn't just "a sparrow" it was lancel lannister. Having him be the one to be our pov down there was a fitting exit for him. And the mountain can't turn people into zombies...

He's just gonna tickle her with a feather.

So if the Martel, Tyrell, half of Greyjoy are now under the banner of the Targaryen, and that the Riverlands are pretty much lordless, it seems to me that only Cersei is going to oppose the arrival of Dany? Also, Jamie having a little discussion about honor right after Cersei did make things a little predictable.
