what shd celtics do w #3 pick

sounds like most of the 'rumored' deals were never really on the table, only the sixers are interested in the pick

i think drafting bender is correct at this point but if they don't like him then i'd rather they get okafor than draft someone else

brown has major upside potential imo

i voted trade for noel btw

i could see them caving and making the okafor deal. brother brad made evan fucking turner into a capable defender - i think he could make okafor passable at worst on that end of the floor and with the team's other defensive strengths passable to decent is fine?

oh noel is good too either one is fine

brown seems like just another low-efficiency guy to throw on the pile idk

he did a lot of really good stuff for a rookie just not shooting but his shot doesnt seem broken and hes physically a basketball superman

apparently they were more interested in nerlens, which i can sort of understand although additional scoring is a more pressing need for the Cs imo

nerlens is also from boston which boston teams seem to like for some reason

nerlens cld be p dominant filling the rim protection/dive man roll on a functional team imo, a slender tyson chandler if u will, wld be a huge coup for the c's

the fact that everyone is so down on okafor as a person and he played the type of basketball that someone who is deserving of everyone being down on them as a person would worries me as does phillys willingness to move him after one season in which he in many way did pretty good, but that cld be an opportunity too if he is capable of cheering up and playing basketball the good way it wld be a huge steal

cause he is very talented and young and played for a dysfunctional team/org his rookie season

yeah its hard to evaluate whether a guy has a higher gear when they're playing on a 9-73 team

i like noel but not sure how much he helps them get better on offense which is really what they need to do.

i think the celtics need the scoring a lot more than the rim protection atm

hes just a good player w valuable skills hed prob move some the needle on O via being able to catch and finish athletically at the rim but def has more value defensively, feel like u just take a player like that and then figure out how to make it work

not that the sixers have shown much interest in trading him

w noel they cld conceivably go from a very good defensive team to a great one too

the sixers would be crazy to trade noel for the #3 pick if the celtics could get that they shouldn't think twice

the okafor stuff never made sense to me, he just doesn't seem like the type of player (back to the basket post man who can't play defense) the celtics are going after in the stevens era

if they wanted a guy like that they wouldn't have turned jared sullinger into a 300 pound stretch 4

okafor can shoot and faceup and roll too tho, hes a v skilled scorer, doesnt really need to post up all the time to be effective

however things like playing defense and passing and knowing what a good shot is have so far eluded him

sullinger is terrible in the post btw, cant jump, lol

nerlens would make tons of sense for them as a guy who is a pure roller/alley oop finisher but who can defend the rim out to the three point line on defense. that's the kind of center the rest of the roster is built to accommodate.

if i was danny i'd offer the kings #3 for cauley stein

oh i assumed all of these rumored #3 trades would also have to include an actual rotation player i dont think even the sixers are giving them a real player for it straight up

we still have the nets pick the next 2 years though so i'm always down with just drafting a high upside guy (bender) and then having a strong team in 5 years rather than now

the nets will prob get a lil better tho via throwing money at third tier free agents

yeah i think theres a reasonable chance that we have a top 5 pick again next yr though. theyre starting from a pretty low point

i support this theorizing and sacto is absolutely stupid enough to do it

if they get boogie durant becomes possible, im not saying remotely likely, but real

boogie seems very unlikely if they can't get khris middleton but sac front office...

sac trading away their star for parts with the new arena opening seems like <1% though

they cld get middleton for the package described in that piece

thing w boogie is we dont know just how bad his relationship w the org is, its at least pretty bad but it cld be nearing unworkable, maybe hes already demanded a trade who knows

that's the main reason i think it's unlikely - joerger clearly vibes well with dudes who are often known for being prickly (hairston, barnes, z-bo, etc.) and it's not unreasonable to think that could happen in the coming season. the minute it doesn't, tho, sacramento totally starts shopping boogie around the deadline
