hard to say who had the bigger meltdown, Lowry or Westwood

is there some strain of the zika virus that only targets (male)golfers that i'm unaware of? or have lots of other sports had people declare themselves unavailable for rio?

pandemic, Wednesday, 29 June 2016 09:43 (seven years ago) link

I think this zika sensitivity is testament to how much golfers care about the Olympics during majors season.

Are they involved in a sport much more likely to be exposed to bites?

not generally a fan but phil has been flawless today. needs a birdie at the last for a major low 62

What the hell is happening?! I just tuned in. I don't understand this scoreboard at all

since yesterday they forgot about everyone else and are just playing match play golf basically

Spottie, Sunday, 17 July 2016 16:28 (seven years ago) link

It looks intense. For those two, that is. Aaaww rooting for Stenson

Have to admit, I don't know who this 'Beef' guy is at all

Old-guy rooting for Phil; that last putt by Stenson was a killer. Great one-on-one drama.

clemenza, Sunday, 17 July 2016 16:53 (seven years ago) link

I'm in a pub watching this and they're playing twee pop instead of the commentary. When was the last time someone Swedish won a major? I wish I could round up all the non-golf people and make them watch this. It is thrilling

this has been a v entertaining way to spend my sunday hangover

dynamicinterface, Sunday, 17 July 2016 17:04 (seven years ago) link

Thought that was a close-up of someone getting a tattoo

Wow! Some finish...

That was incredible. Phil: "I'm gonna shoot 65 today." Stenson: "Not good enough--you'll actually have to shoot 61 to win."

foursomes

stenson/rose vs spieth/reed
mcilroy/sullivan vs mickelson/fowler
garcia/kaymer vs walker/zach johnson
westwood/pieters vs dustin johnson/kuchar

intrigued by that phil/rickie pairing especially as it's foursomes, phil can't drive it straight and rickie hasn't played well in 6 months.

i vacillate between a narrow usa win and a europe winning by 4 or 5 points. last ryder cup was the only time i've been confident europe would win.

pandemic, Friday, 30 September 2016 11:13 (seven years ago) link

Jesus Christ but I love the ryder cup

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Friday, 30 September 2016 13:14 (seven years ago) link

the us fans seem to be trying very hard to understand the "chanting" and "culture" which form the backbone of european success. "i believe that we will win" was just ridiculed by the british commentator who seemed like he'd never heard it before.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Friday, 30 September 2016 13:14 (seven years ago) link

US on fire
