Did anyone else feel like that goodbye scene with Varys might have been his last scene? It had last-scene-style music, and had him sort-of walking into the distance...

i was thinking that it felt like a goodbye but it felt too obviously like a goodbye for it to be one. i could be wrong. i recall hearing about something from a kevan lannister chapter in one of the books that makes me wonder where varys is off to, and what his actual mission might be. that's probably another book story that's long gone though.

I really like the idea of Varys going to Dorne. Ellaria and Tyrion have a cordial relationship, and the Dornish are anti-slavery.

So E9 is Sansa's revenge on Ramsay. E10 Cersei on the Faith Militant with wildfire? Wonder if Tommen will be accidental collateral fulfilling the Cersei children prophecy.

The Blackfish is going to be at the Gala in Methil (where I'm still in a scatter flat for another week). Don't think I would go see him, personally.

That's okay, we have loads of great castles. I think I'd take Stirling, though Edinburgh is perhaps easier defended. But, you know, it's Edinburgh.

really he should have just owned that shit from day one and had kingslayer painted in all caps on his helmet.

find it hard to believe people in this world gaf about anyone killing a king, or at least that they do but that "daughterslayer" or "brothermurderer" or "seanbeankiller" wouldn't be as popular

I don't know why he doesn't just tell everyone the situation that he told Brienne. It made for a good bathtime revelation but I can't make sense of him keeping that story to himself most of the time.

If I were Tommen though I might perhaps think twice about creating a situation where Cersei is required to stand trial for *everything*. I mean maybe he actually thinks Robert Baretheon is really his dad, which would at least be funny.

Littlefinger will definitely get there. And also, just as things looks lost, who will get there but the Blackfish, leading the Brotherhood without Banners - all five of them! - in a decisive charge.

kinda doubt Arya's gonna kill Cersei or Ramsay.

my own preference is that in an eleventh hour surprise jaime leads the lannister army charging in, to ramsay's delight and jon's chagrin, but in the end they actually charge into and decimate the bolton army bc jaime has found his heart or something thanks to brienne or whatever. i suspect that would be too awesome to actually happen though.

nah, jaime goes back to kings landing, and cersei has killed their last remaining child in a fire, and she dies too, and he has a change of heart, and then Arya kills him

Considering the build-up to this battle has been stretched out over half a season, it's remarkable so little we know about it.

This is also presumably why Walder would have been fine with Jaime catapulting his only attractive daughter's baby son into a castle to fuck with Edmure

In the books there are so many Frey heirs that Walder doesn't care if a few of them get killed, and the heirs are happy to have their ranks thinned a little to improve their own standing, maybe something similar with Walda?

Or maybe the writers haven't thought things through, hmmm.

there hasn't been an official Frey response re: the murder. They're preoccupied with gaining control over Riverrun.
