what sort of social venues are there for bad moms who want to 'let off some steam'

there isn't much! no bars to speak of. one needs to go to st. george, mesquite, or las vegas to really connect with other bad moms.

i think one popular thing for bad moms to do in hurricane might be to gossip and be mean church ladies. or maybe do meth and watch tv?

Interesting Nazi War Memorabilia Arrives at Cedar Post Pawn

One of our customers brought a Nazi Youth knife and a Nazi officers dagger in to the shop. The Hitler Youth were run very similarly to the Boy Scouts, except, of course, that Nazi indoctrination was the cornerstone of the program. Hitler felt that the German youth represented the future of his Third Reich, so he formed the Hitler Jugend for boys and the Bund Deutscher Madel for girls in 1935. After passing minor exams, the boys would receive a Hitler Jugend knife. The knives had nickeled hilts and black checkered grip plates with an enamel Hitler Jugend swastika. From 1935-1937, these knives were etched with the motto of the Hitler Youth...Blut und Ehre! (Blood and Honor!) After 1937, the blades bore the RZM marking instead.

Nazi daggers are a very sought after collectible because of their intricacy and uniqueness. Nazi daggers were issued to military, paramilitary, political and social groups of the Nazi government. They were first produced in 1933 and production ended in 1942. They were part of the ceremonial dress of all Nazi officers and were worn when these high ranking officials were seen in public and at important events. The daggers varied considerably in appearance depending on which branch of the military or government they were issued for. They would have different blade markings, lengths, hanger colors, etc. These differences make it fun for sword collectors to try to assemble several different variations.

See...between reading this blog and watching "Pawn Stars", you get all the history you need!

Laszlo Agh was a wartime member of the Hungarian Arrow Cross, an anti- Semitic group of fascists responsible for the murder of 10,000 to 15,000 Hungarian Jews and the deportation to Auschwitz of another 80,000. According to 12 eyewitnesses, Agh had personally rounded up, imprisoned, tortured, and killed hundreds of Hungarian Jews. The torture included forced calisthenics to the point of unconsciousness, burial in the ground up to the neck until dead, and orders to jump on ground studded with partially buried bayonets.

April 21, 2015, an article appeared in America Al Jazzera in which Spirit Angel-Conley, a former resident of Diamond Ranch, related the following incident.

Conley remembered that one day as the girls in the program passed the boy’s side of the facility, one of the boys mooned them. Late that night, staff woke the girls and made them single out the boy who did it. After he was caught, a staff member immediately began hitting him, dragging him out of the building. She remembered his shoes still lying in the hallway.

"All you could hear is this kid screaming,” she said. [10]

On 9-09-15, Chad Ryan Huntsman, a Diamond Ranch Academy Science teacher, was arrested for 10 counts of exploitation of a minor.[11]

"Hitler said he'd straighten it out; he promised jobs and food," says Gellersen. "That's all a worker wants. They voted him in. I was 11. We had it good under him."

Manfred Gellersen was a soldier in World War II — for the other side. A German soldier. A Mormon German soldier. When the war was over he went home — and then left for America, landing nearly penniless in New York and eventually Salt Lake City, where he has lived ever since.

"We lost the war, and I joined the winner," he says with a smile.

ogden is still probably the wildest town in the state with the most diverse character because it was where the union pacific railroad passed through giving it a source of life apart from mormon organization and industry. weber state is technically in ogden but was founded by davis county mormons of note so its student body is mostly white suburban-rural german-american local yokels and the general atmosphere is comparable to utah valley university or a less overwhelmingly mormon byu-idah.

Hurricane • Jennifer Humphries remembers being one of those kids lining the sidewalks during this town's annual Fourth of July parade.

In those days, she would run a few steps into the street when someone passing in the parade would throw a handful of taffy or suckers toward the crowd. She'd grab her share.

Monday was Humphries' turn to throw.

Now 16 years old, she wore a crown and the sash that said "Miss Hurricane." She sat in a flatbed trailer, waved and tossed candy at the kids.

"We like the tradition," Humphries said. "I liked picking up candy when I was little. I still like picking up candy."

Vandals spray-painted obscenities at a Hurricane school and park early this week.

Officers discovered the graffiti at Hurricane Middle School (395 N. 200 West) and Hall Park (397 N. 200 West) on Tuesday, according to a news release from Hurricane police. The vandalism, which included the phrase "F--- the police," likely occurred late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

"This is a complete act of disregard for property and respect for the community," the release states.

The writings, some of which were still being deciphered, were scrawled in black paint. Employees with Washington County School District and Hurricane City Parks spent hours cleaning the graffiti, said Hurricane police Sgt. Brandon Buell, though there was no cost estimate for the damage.

Investigators were reviewing surveillance footage from the areas for possible leads. They ask anyone with information on the incident to call 435-627-4999.
