hey stirmonster, apologies if this is an inappropriate question, but about the version of "dancing ghosts" on this record:
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Out-There-A-Thread-Through-Time/release/23149
is it unedited?
― a somnambulist in an ambulance (r1o natsume), Wednesday, 20 May 2009 23:31 (fourteen years ago) link
not inappropriate at all. it is unedited. it's exactly the same as the elemental 7 version except that chris carter remastered it.
― stirmonster, Thursday, 21 May 2009 00:12 (fourteen years ago) link
ah cheers! will save a fair bit of money on the elemental 7 record - the rest of the comp looks great as well

If I love love love AB/7A, what's the next Chris Carter track/LP I should check out?
― Nate Carson, Thursday, 6 August 2009 01:18 (fourteen years ago) link
The Space Between!
― dan selzer, Thursday, 6 August 2009 01:56 (fourteen years ago) link
that include The Space Between?
the plan is to release a 4 track 10" of tracks from the space between. if that sells enough to break even there might be a second volume. there will also (hopefully) be a 12" of moonlight from mondo beat with a remix on the other side and a 10" of tg's AB/7A with a remix on the other side.

― rio (sean), Sunday, 25 October 2009 13:45 (fourteen years ago) link
if you fully open the youtube link, you get the info -
From the Optimo Music 12" - Chris Carter - The Spaces Between (OM 008), a 6 track EP of tracks from Chris Carter. 5 of the tracks originally appeared on "The Space Between" cassette, released on industrial Records in 1980 and were subsequently reissued on CD in 1991. This will be the first time they have appeared on vinyl. There is a bonus sixth track, "Climbing" that only previously appeared on the 1981 "Stabmental" tape compilation compiled by Geoff Rushton, later of Coil. All tracks were remastered by Chris Carter in 2009. Scheduled for release on Optimo Music late 2009 / early 2010.

waiting impatiently for the "space between" vinyl re-issue...
Do you have anything to do with this one Stirmonster? or is this separate from the 6 track ep thing you were talking about a while back?

in the meantime, c&c are putting out their back catalogue on vinyl again very shortly.

And I'm usually terrible at picking out synth sounds, but the notes at the beginning are totally Jupiter/Juno.
The Byrds beat him by 15 or so years though. Moog Raga is dying for a remix.

actually the year in the "dancing ghosts" youtube is referring to the lp release of elemental 7. iirc the song was first released on video in 1982, placing it as early as the raga bhairav. i'm sure stirmonster can clear this up
― hotel califor.nia (r1o natsume), Monday, 12 April 2010 21:22 (fourteen years ago) link
yeah both of those live LPs (Elemental 7 and European Rendezous) need to be reissued in their full length original form. two of my favorites.
Elenental 7 is from '83, I think that's when the original gigs were also.

I asked Chris Carter if he remembered what he used on this track. The following is what he had to say: "I'm a little fuzzy on specifics for individual tracks from this album as it was recorded over a four year period (1974 - 78) but as far as I can remember 'Interloop' was recorded on a Tascam 4 track - probably a A3340S. I think the synths used were a Roland SH-1 for the sequence and an Roland SH-5 for the synth lead line. A Roland System-100 104 Sequencer was driving the SH-1. I am pretty sure the delay effects were from a Roland RE501 and probably a couple of Boss pedals - a phaser and a chorus most likely - all Roland basically."
