The Liminanas: french garage pop drawing on ye-ye, go-go, VU, gainsbourg, etc. - Crystal Anis LP (2012)

so psyched for new album! 2 months overdue, but w/e!

been listening to & thinking about this band a lot lately. maybe cuz stereolabe poll, i dunno.

The new album is an achievement in how well they've optimized themselves and their sound. Every song is so "them" that all twelve songs pass by in one 70min long blur. Every song is the same because because you can just listen to it as one long piece. Of course I love love love this stuff. I can only find interviews of them in French, but machine-translated Lionel Limiñana keeps referring to the importance of "The Riff." I can't think of a better philosophy to life.

Just found these guys and love them. It's so great finding a new band and then they already have 4 really good albums out.
I'm buying the hard copies of all four since they are albums I play from start to finish.

I've been enjoying this kinda similar band lately. Also French, a little noisier.

I went to see the Liminanas last night. It was louder, rougher, wilder, trippier and altogether 'bigger' than I expected. Seven members on stage, for a start. More riffage, more percussive and less sweet than I thought.

I do miss their simpler days - I do like this a lot though.

I love how the Liminanas, as a duo, are inherently collaborative, and somehow leave their kosmi-yeye stamp on everything while letting Newcombe (et al) do his thing too.

Like, blending with Pascal Comelade's wistful toy instruments, both artists' mojo intact, not to mention the Cramps and the original Green Fuz
