I just read upthread a bit. Earplugs not required unless your the type that always uses them. It wasn't oppresively loud. The sound was perfect.

my experience at previous shows has been, they start, and i'm kind of "yeah, this is ok," and things go on a little and at some point i lose track of it all and i sort of come to in the middle of this howling cloud of rock and i can't remember quite how i got there. (and that's without being on anything stronger than alcohol.)

New album 'In A To Infinity' coming in April on Important as well, so expect a lot of that chord on the tour.

I was thinking about going to the Pontiac gig next Sat. & reading this thread has confirmed that I will be doing exactly that!
I'm already planning on seeing Mission of Burma at a local dive that same week, so we've got a bumper crop of quality live shit going on here in the midwest (& this is passing up Titus Andronicus, Washed Out, Broken Social Scene & Deer Tick at the same time - all gigs I would have wanted to see, were they not all piled on top of each other!)

I've been up since 6:00am and was planning on doing laundry and going to bed early tonight but SURPRISE! Acid Mothers are tonight. And friends from out of town, too. *coffee*

considering how little i listen to AMT, it's funny to me that they're the band i've seen play the most in the last decade. but their live shows are so great, i'll never pass them up. definitely going to the knoxville show in a few weeks.

Lineup appeared to be as listed above, though replace "acoustic guitar" with "bitchin' clarinet". I kinda expected them to play one 1-hr song but they played a set of songs kinda! With verses sometimes! Mokoto rubbing his guitar on his ass, holding his guitar over his head by the trem arm, swinging it wildly by the neck. Guitar hanging from the ceiling. Bass dude sings a lot. He makes chromatic shredding groove somehow!? Really liked him. Great, great show.

sadly (FOR ME) my report from the high on fire show says that you won MPLS/STPL shows this evening ;_;

My full report is on the rolling metal thread but the general vibe is noodly yet boring

They fucking destroyed Chicago's Empty Bottle, last night. Brilliant from start to finish. Frenzied. Brain-flaying. Superconductive. Etc.

this bodes well for my plans tonight! are they freakishly loud or anything? I don't like to wear earplugs, tho I will if I have to.

Very freakishly loud, though it's a loud venue to begin with. Just white noise, at a few points. You could see them playing, but it was just a wall of static.
― winnebago taco, Saturday, 3 April 2010 17:52 (fourteen years ago) link
fuck that was loud
― samosa gibreel, Tuesday, 6 April 2010 06:29 (fourteen years ago) link
haha yah
these dudes + titus andronicus in the same week = rawken out
― f a ole schwarzwelt (Lamp), Tuesday, 6 April 2010 06:31 (fourteen years ago) link
i've been waiting for a band to end their set like that for my entire life. like not specifically two guitars hanging from the ceiling and feedbacking while the rest of the band go nuts rawkin out, but at least that sort of totally unhinged wave of noise that just grows and grows uncontrollably. these dudes understand sweet motherfucking release more than any band i've ever seen.

Been a while since we updated! Even though they pretty much still do annual tours here, so:

Even better are the California Flashback shows:

I'm only going to be able to attend the first night in SF but Christ, that's a lineup.
