Cool

That Teen album is quickly becoming one of my favourites of the whole year, it's so great

And the cry rang out all o'er the town / Good heavens! Tay is down (imago), Saturday, 2 April 2016 15:01 (eight years ago) link

Yeah, just yesterday I fully immersed myself in the Teen album and it is luscious.

Yay! Really hoping this takes off on here. I'm listening to it every day at the moment.

keep listening to this addictive quirky rhythmic art-pop Prince Rama track on repeat, there is a Kate Bush vibe to the vocals.

This is also great. Same label too (Carpark)

Prince Rama were one of my favorite accidental discoveries at SXSW last year!

RONiiA (pronounced Row-nee-a) is Nona Marie Invie (Dark Dark Dark), Mark McGee (Father You See Queen, Marijuana Deathsquads) and Fletcher Barnhill (Joint Custody, FUGITIVE). Together they produce a mysterious world full of departure, rejection, and love made from dark beats and scuffed up synths. Electronic music that is stripped of its gloss, as wildly innovative as it is original.

"Cocaine Style" is brilliant but I had no idea she was the Other Osbourne daughter

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 6 April 2016 21:20 (eight years ago) link

Ha! All I ever knew about her is that she refused to appear on the MTV show, so I don't think I've ever seen what she looks like.

xp That's good. I really liked her track "Hardships" from last year.

Haven't formed an opinion yet about the Slovenlie track.

ANYWAY, the Camp Claude album is out today!!

This isn't an official shambhala thread entry, just a note to point out that Rangleklods no longer exist because they now go by the name Blondage and have released a rather duddish new song: https://soundcloud.com/i-d-online-1/premiere-blondage-dive

TS: 4 Non Blondes, Blond Ambition, Blondage, Blond:ish, Dumblondes, Three Blonde Mice, or Venetian Blond as worst bandname.

Unyielding Dispair Foundation Repair, LLC (Sanpaku), Sunday, 10 April 2016 22:58 (eight years ago) link

Is there actually someone using the name Three Blonde Mice?!

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 10 April 2016 23:09 (eight years ago) link

Probably not anymore, if you want it.

Unyielding Dispair Foundation Repair, LLC (Sanpaku), Monday, 11 April 2016 00:36 (eight years ago) link

I never learned what a rangleklod is. I always assumed it was some obscure implement for animal husbandry, or perhaps a festival shoe.

I'm really digging this Prince Rama album so far. Sounds totally different to the stuff I heard from them before, which was very very post-AC chillwave.

Perhaps better suited for the Not House Not R&B Shangri-La, but the vocals are wispy enough for an honorary mention here:

that Kristin Kontrol album is an absolute joy, the perfect intersection of so many different things I love.

boxedjoy, Saturday, 4 June 2016 08:56 (seven years ago) link

The Kristin Kontrol album reminds me of CRJ's Emotion in that the opening track is so mind blowing that the rest of the album, while uniformly excellent, cannot help but feel like a bit of a letdown in its inability to ever match the opener.

two weeks pass...

Just came to post about the Cult Club album but I see JF beat me to it by a few weeks. I've been checking in on Cult Club every couple of months to see if they were up to anything and was surprised tonight to see an album was out. Sounds great so far. For those who don't do Spotify, it's a free download (if you give up your email) in any digital format from their label's Bandcamp:

https://domestica.bandcamp.com/album/cult-club-play-with-lies-2016-ref-dom07-s

Would love to have this and the 12" on vinyl but coming in at over $50 with shipping from Spain I'll have to be content with the free download.

The Men I Trust album from last year was one of my silent favorites, so I'm glad they're staying active. The bass work in this is phenomenal.
