this is a chill brew. i'm really into the less intense end of the ipa spectrum.

Treeship, Wednesday, 30 March 2016 16:59 (eight years ago) link

Yes! I had that a week or so ago and really liked it.

In Jersey now with no car access. Best option at the local six pack place was Yuengling. Tastes like nostalgia.

Treeship, Wednesday, 30 March 2016 23:25 (eight years ago) link

yuengling is the best part abt the usa east of the mississippi river and its absence is the worst part abt the usa west of the mississippi river

drink a dewsk during the day, slam a brewsk after work

μpright mammal (mh), Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:51 (eight years ago) link

Is dewsk slang for dewars?

Treeship, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:00 (eight years ago) link

dewski, aka mountain dew, bro

μpright mammal (mh), Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:02 (eight years ago) link

I think it's a term only used by an ex-coworker friend of mine

μpright mammal (mh), Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:03 (eight years ago) link

Lol

Treeship, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:21 (eight years ago) link

I was picturing you in some sort of mad men office environment, sipping dewars (dewskies) on the job

Treeship, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:22 (eight years ago) link

Treeship, do you like all day ipa?

Toof Seteltha (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:36 (eight years ago) link

and 'dewski' is fantastic

Toof Seteltha (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:38 (eight years ago) link

I like all day ipa but i don't like the graphic design of founders brewskery

Treeship, Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:42 (eight years ago) link

not sure if this kickstart thing counts as a real dewski but i'm slamming one this am

μpright mammal (mh), Thursday, 31 March 2016 14:11 (eight years ago) link

nice

Treeship, Thursday, 31 March 2016 19:17 (eight years ago) link

lol my friend just tweeted this:

"Just watched a construction worker take that first big pull off a bottle of dewski and let out a big ol sigh of relief... My man."

μpright mammal (mh), Thursday, 31 March 2016 19:49 (eight years ago) link

lol love it

my roommate bought a sixer of these brewskinators but she gave them to me because she said they were "gross". this was very confusing to me because to me this just tastes like a conventional ipa and she drinks those all the time.

(btw this is the new beer thread from now on.)

Sour beer is the way and the light

Lindsaymans of Scotland are, based on their awesome raspberry flavoured lambic, an instant British answer to the question 'why is Belgium the only nation that gets it'

And the cry rang out all o'er the town / Good Heavens! Tay is down (imago), Thursday, 14 April 2016 23:35 (eight years ago) link

wait, the brewery is called Six Degrees North, Lindsaymans is just the name of their Belgian sour range, which seems to be the only thing they do. Anyway it's great

ordered some sort of special "cask" ale yesterday. the bartender hit the cask with a mallet before pouring it. very lightly, like there was no way it did anything, so it seemed more like an obscure ritual. i asked her why she did it and she said "it's how it's done." the beer was very flat.

maybe i am remembering this wrong.

Treeship, Sunday, 17 April 2016 19:23 (seven years ago) link

okay, the Wild Beer Co's Winter Blend 2015 is so good I just wrote a fairly impassioned email to the company about it. A legitimate UK gueuze, and it loses nothing by comparison to anything Belgian

I've bought that again since then too. As a counterpoint to the fruity ipa love though, Ballast Point's watermelon ipa is a fucking gallon of garbage. Only benefit is that it's 10%, so after two I kinda don't care. Bought this because I really liked their Sculpin, and when I felt like splurging on a $15 six-pack, that's where I'd sometimes go. But this was two dollars more and the watermelon flavor reminds me of a Bacardi Breezer or something.

pineapple and grapefruit sculpin are good. I've only had one ballast point beer that wasn't sculpin, and I didn't like it.
