The apt above mine is for rent. 1980 for a decent and large 2 bedroom on the 6th floor of an elevator building across the street from a park and convenient to the 7 train, LIRR and M and R trains. Pretty great location and neighborhood.

I really like the Queens Museum but it would be nice if it was just a little more subway accessible, although not that I'd likely take the subway there from Forest Hills anyway

also a little more bus accessible, like if there was a bus that stopped right by it instead of 15 mins walk away

wow p much everything I said upthread about my first Forest Hills impressions turned out 100% true. Neighborhood seems to be getting more packed with families but not otherwise more appealing in terms of restaurants and good places to go with kids. A somewhat deadening neighborhood but could be worse. Think we're basically going to stay though unless we get rich enough to move to either Brooklyn again or Westchester.

I hear there's a great deal on an apartment in Woodside.

Did anyone go to the Queens International Night Market last year? We went opening night but it was so mobbed we had to leave. I think it improved after but we never went back. Starting up again soon.

Only went opening night and it was a total shit-show. I think they worked it out better as the season when on as well.

One thing I will definitely do if I go again is take the bus instead of drive.

You can usually find parking in Corona if you drive around a bit.

Last time we took the 7 but the 7 was only running as far as Junction Blvd so we walked the rest of the way. Then we walked home and stopped and got tacos for an actual meal.

Have had a couple bad experiences with Queens Museum events. Although one good one too.

we didn't even bother going into the ramones exhibit. There was a 2 hour wait and people still coming. We figure we can go back any time in the next few months.

The not very well marked theater with a series of video shorts looping including one from friends that I knew about and another that I didn't realize included people I knew were all pretty good to pretty great.

Some of the stuff in the open studios was very good, although the one that was the most interesting to us, the guy totally ignored us. First time I really wanted to talk to the artist and were the only people in the space and it seemed like he went out of his way to avoid us.

Some of the other art was great, will have to go back when it's not crowded.

The bands were fun.

Queens Museum has p much never been crowded any time I've gone except for events. Has a lot of potential, still feels like they are feeling out the best way to use the spaces at times.

This screen name is actually Queens-related, very specific to my location.

I feel like Queens is going to seem a lot better when my kids are both old enough that it's easier to ride the bus -- something like jazz at flushing hall would be perfect for that, e.g., whereas parking around there is nightmarish.

I more mean that they need to be big enough to not be in strollers -- taking a kid and a stroller onto a bus is a huge pain in the ass.

I'm not too fond of them and stuff of that sort, of which there is a lot in LIC. Really bad architectural elements all over the place.

I always assumed they were wind turbines or something? But I have no factual reason to suspect this.

just got tix to Louis CK @ the forest hills tennis stadium. There may still be some left, went on sale at noon today.

The lineup this year is full of geriatric all-stars -- Dylan, Simon, Parton, Van Morrison. There's also a Disclosure show -- I don't know them but aren't they like ILM darlings or something? And Mobb Deep is on the bill, which is sort of interesting. Then there's also some electronic artist called Flume, who I don't know, but Shlohmo is on that bill and he's p good.

The only one of those I (probably) won't be at is on the most conflict-heavy night of the summer when I already have tickets elsewhere in the borough and want to see at least half a dozen other shows in at least three different cities and one non-city. Need to clone myself stat.

Terraza situation starting to sink in with all its bummer potential. Stopped over there last night to see a bit of interesting music, had to leave early on and didn't manage to go back. In the back of my mind I was surely thinking "I can always go back there to see the again" but now that kind of statement is no longer true.
