I'd figure Atlanta, but I wouldn't be surprised if Cincy also took a shot at trading for him as I think they might have tried to get him a few months ago.

Jim Bowden:
"Dodgers will not be trading Puig after being claimed on trade waivers at least until the off-season. The claiming team had more interest in blocking than making an earnest attempt to trade for him according to source"

On his home run, Yasiel Puig said he thought he got enough to hit it out, but then "I saw the outfielder saying 'I got it.' I guess the wind helped me a little tonight," he smiled. Then asked if this is the most fun he's had playing baseball, he joked, "I've had fun since 4 years old."

The interesting question is, in light of how mercurial Puig's season was, and weighing that against how much of a roll of the dice young pitchers are, who would you rather have going forward? Puig's about a year-and-a-half older.
― clemenza, Monday, November 11, 2013 11:28 PM
I.e., Puig or Jose Fernandez--a question I wish I hadn't asked.
(That crossed my mind too--my guess is, even though it undermines the story, probably not.)

it's am amazing shot all around, down to little details like Puig's number, right in the center, being the only immediately visible one in the image (you can make out small numbers on the other jerseys but none of them pop out in the same way)

He came up in an e-mail response on James's site today. Where is he? What happened? How can a 30-year-old who hit 24 HR and had a slash line of .267/.327/.458 when he last played two years ago not have potential value for someone? A little erratic, true, but he never really had a bad season, and I would think his flair and enthusiasm would be clubhouse positives.

Shot: Yasiel Puig could do up to five years in prison for lying to the feds arising out of an illegal gambling ring. Chaser: he was in over $200K in debt at one point, paid it, and then made 899 more bets in a two month period! https://t.co/NpxN6ls8SD— Craig Calcaterra (@craigcalcaterra) November 15, 2022

not a name i remember but perhaps some of you do:
Federal prosecutors today also filed a plea agreement for former MLB player Erik Kristian Hiljus, 49, of Panorama City, who agreed to plead guilty to two counts of subscribing to false tax returns and will face up to six years in federal prison upon entering his guilty plea. Hiljus was an agent for Nix’s illegal gambling business but did not work with Puig.
