Grace Jones - C or D?

most of this has already appeared on the Compass Point Session 2cd set from a few years back.

I looked at the price for those this morning and my wallet still hasn't stopped screaming. $120 for a 4xLP, $52 for a CD, and the Francois Kevorkian mix only on an audio blu-ray? Madness.

She has impressive moments.

Great list, although my list would include "That's the Trouble" from her first album on it which I think may be the best single track she's ever done. "Sorry" from the same album would be up there too.

It's kind of interesting she has all these different facets that appeal to people differently. Like it seems she has at least six different signature tunes, depending on how one appreciates her.

I'd have to include the long version of Walking in the Rain from the Nightclubbing reissue. Wally Badarou!

News to me: "The Apple Stretching" and "Nipple To The Bottle" were two sides of the same (7")single!
I like this 12" version of "Apple"--no gratuitous syn-drum injections etc., and though the vivid detail of Melvin Van Peebles' lyrics goes against the grain of her terse voice, that's against the grain anyway, and appropriate to the ever-lurking possibility of urban sensory overload, just like the occasional distortion of this posted copy goes w hectic city etc:

On the other had, "Nipple To The Bottle" seems basically a more monotonous song, despite some good live work-outs and right-thinking extended mixes (not that I've heard nearly all of either). So right now I like this studio edit---it's a little short, but always leave 'em wanting more (ace visuals too, taking some turns I didn't expect---O Canada!)

Of course she's always effective w *brief bursts* of vivid detail, shots fired, but MVP is(deliberately?)wordy here--still, seems like it works, pretty much. Would like to hear her on "Desolation Row."

I want to get a comp of all her baddest shit… there are many, but most don't seem to contain "ladeez and germs, miss Grace jones" which to most people is known as "slave to the rhythm." the below seems to be the best bet, but I can't tell if the listed track is that tune or the one with that title from the album that has several elements of the single but lacks THAT GLORIOUS FUCKING CHORUS.

anybody have any advice? anybody noticed that Cale's "everytime the dogs bark" is way up "slave's" behind?

Grace is sounding good during quarantine. "Unlimited Capacity for Love" in particular is so, so good.
