it's funny how poor denver seemed to look reg season even as they were winning games but i guess watching peyton have his worst year stole the spotlight from the defense

congrats to anyone who thought Denver was gonna win. I didn't know anyone irl who thought this wouldn't be a Carolina victory myself included.

Some football talking heads were talking like Carolina would blow them out.

even accounting for the quality Denver's defense, Oher and Remmels had abysmal games.....no idea what Remmels was trying to do on that right side.

meanwhile Ginn still bodycatching balls.

embarrassing.

It was kind of a fallacy to think that after Pittsburgh and NE both got roasted by those two ends that they were going to be able to block them with a single guy. Kinda hilarious that the near entirety of the NFL talking heads were picking Carolina with some even comparing them to the 85 Bears when in hindsight you just look at their schedule and they did not play one decent AFC club. Best wins were against Seattle and Green Bay, both of which were spotty this year. They were 15-1 but they played a soft schedule. But hey so did the 72 Dolphins and often times the Colts during the Manning years.

I thought Cam made the right play on that fumble fwiw

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 9 February 2016 01:00 (eight years ago) link

he really didn't have much of a shot at recovering it, at least not without getting stretch armstronged.

it is kinda funny how Cam's public persona changed in a mere 24 hour period. I hope he comes back next year and silences everybody.

i'm obviously pro-cam but not going for the loose ball was pretty weird. i chalked it up to frustration in the moment but i haven't read all the hot takes

k3vin k., Tuesday, 9 February 2016 01:15 (eight years ago) link

to me it looked like he paused because he didn't have a good angle on it and didn't want to knock it out of his teammate's hands in haste

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 9 February 2016 01:17 (eight years ago) link

i thought it was more he was a bit offbalance and it only looked as bad as it does in slomo idk he'll recover

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 9 February 2016 01:20 (eight years ago) link

manning is capital not labor non shockah

wishy washy hippy variety hour (Hunt3r), Tuesday, 9 February 2016 16:35 (eight years ago) link

i hope he goes down for juicing

Spottie, Tuesday, 9 February 2016 16:36 (eight years ago) link

I don't think he will. Even if he's busted for it the narrative will be that he was trying to keep playing at a level that his body wouldn't support, and turned to HGH to try and recover that, big sad face, don't you just feel for the guy.

the saints run and the cardinals run are the best running plays of my generation, easy.

"OK," said Newton, frustrated by the notion that he could have done more. "I didn’t get the fumble. We can play tit for tat. I’ve seen numerous quarterbacks throw interceptions, and their effort afterwards … they don’t go. I don’t dive on one fumble because the way my leg was, it could have been contorted in a way. We didn't lose that game because of that fumble. I’ll tell you that. As long as my teammates know, as long as my coaches know, as long as anybody that follows this team knows."

I'd say that's a bit more Starbury than Jordan. Newton's a phenomenal athlete, but the dude comes off as full of crap.

It will be interesting to see how he handles their 15-1 and multiple prime time game spotlight next year, especially if the Panthers struggle.

He should have just lied and said he lost the ball the melee for a second and didn't realize he was that close.
