might want to consider doing a fresh install. If that doesn't work, send it in.

should i have any expectations of CS being anything less than terrible to deal with?

(•̪●) (carne asada), Wednesday, 27 January 2016 19:48 (eight years ago) link

I mean... they'll make you do a bunch of stuff before they send you a box but eventually they'll send you a box if stuff doesn't work. Definitely want to set aside some time for it.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Wednesday, 27 January 2016 19:49 (eight years ago) link

a box to mail your system in, i mean

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Wednesday, 27 January 2016 19:50 (eight years ago) link

that they will bother to send you a box at all puts them ahead of both CS departments IMO

If my experiences with PSN customer service are any indication, you can probably expect an interaction with someone in possession of at least a third-grader's cognition and reading comprehension.

holy shit the witness.

these puzzles haunt my dreams

art, Friday, 29 January 2016 04:34 (eight years ago) link

also picked up divinity: original sin, never heard about it before but it is pretty cool, and super hard. if you are into SRPGs it would probably interest you. very good mechanics and lots of care/thought invested in the story thus far

art, Friday, 29 January 2016 04:35 (eight years ago) link

the witness last week, next week firewatch (really been looking forward to that one!), Gravity Rush Remastered should be good, Far Cry Primal also interesting. Good time to own a PS4.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 21:14 (eight years ago) link

Helldivers looks like it might be fun - on this month's free PS+ games list

i keep up on all of the information from industry events such as e3, tokyo game show, pax prime and pax east

Worth Taking from Little Kid (Will M.), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 23:11 (eight years ago) link

ok, now i know, thank you

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 23:24 (eight years ago) link

in all seriousness tho i have no idea how i found firewatch, it may actually ahve been an e3 trailer? but the second i saw the little 60 second teaser i knew i had to play it.

Worth Taking from Little Kid (Will M.), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 23:29 (eight years ago) link

i saw it on twitter

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 23:57 (eight years ago) link

i saw it a while ago, idk where, but it looks pretty good!

jason waterfalls (gbx), Wednesday, 3 February 2016 01:32 (eight years ago) link

probably be tied up with SFV and maybe that new Naruto game this month, but def. interested in Gravity Rush Remastered. weirdly Amazon-exclusive

Nhex, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 03:17 (eight years ago) link

anyone else playing the witness? i'm downloading it right now

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 February 2016 00:46 (eight years ago) link

how far are you, art? (or, how far art thou? sorry)

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 February 2016 00:46 (eight years ago) link

aaaand i'm hooked. enjoying this a lot so far.

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 February 2016 01:35 (eight years ago) link

surprisingly amazing sound design in some areas, too. early example: after you get to the first kind of canyony/deserty type of passageway and then do the puzzle that involves a doubled path that's mirrored vertically, it opens the door to this crazy boathouse with 8 different colored vases, and as you near each one, you get a different drone that harmonize with each other, so you can stand between different ones and get different harmonies that also sound nice layered over the wave and wind noises.

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 February 2016 01:42 (eight years ago) link

dude yes this game is amazing. i would guess im perhaps halfway through. unfortunately i just got rocket league so this is going down for a few

art, Friday, 5 February 2016 03:21 (eight years ago) link

i feel like i suck really bad at the witness, but maybe it's just normal to have to skip a decent amount of puzzles at first and come back to them later?

i am obsessed with rocket league as well. if you (or anyone else) ever want to party ps4 style i am we_invent_you

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 February 2016 03:29 (eight years ago) link

nah man it is so open you can easily end up at the wrong step in a sequence or find a panel that was deliberately set in the wrong area (as far as what you know how to do) so backtracking is definitely expected

art, Friday, 5 February 2016 03:41 (eight years ago) link

Nuclear Throne is pretty great in a Smash TV kind of way

how does the witness compare to talos principle

am0n, Friday, 5 February 2016 16:11 (eight years ago) link

firewatch bad. like a poorly executed gone home. fake open world forest corridors.

adam, Thursday, 11 February 2016 03:51 (eight years ago) link

its weird how all these games, on this thread, are pc games

sad about firewatch though, i kinda liked the sound of it

carly rae jetson (thomp), Thursday, 11 February 2016 03:53 (eight years ago) link

me too man! i "pre-loaded" it and everything. i love the idea of a forest ranger open-wander type game with some non-murderous narrative. don't want to ~spoil~ anything for ppl that care about ~spoilers~ but i'll say it's way more linear and directed than the trailers imply.

adam, Thursday, 11 February 2016 04:18 (eight years ago) link

can you maybe ~spoil~ it for me to satisfy my curiosity, since i am unlikely to actually play it

carly rae jetson (thomp), Thursday, 11 February 2016 04:19 (eight years ago) link

Im liking it so far. The dialogue is the high point after 2 days

Worth Taking from Little Kid (Will M.), Thursday, 11 February 2016 05:26 (eight years ago) link

When you start it, turn off "show location on map", you have to actually orienteer a little bit. It's cool man I like it

Worth Taking from Little Kid (Will M.), Thursday, 11 February 2016 05:29 (eight years ago) link

i read a good review of firewatch that made it sound interesting. so it's crap?

has anyone played "the disappearance of ethan carter"?

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Thursday, 11 February 2016 09:16 (eight years ago) link

I played that, think I repped for it in last year's p+c? It's beautiful, not a huge amount of game there but I loved the environment enough to more than make up for that.

JimD, Thursday, 11 February 2016 09:47 (eight years ago) link

firewatch is not crap, adam is a bum who hates neat things

Worth Taking from Little Kid (Will M.), Thursday, 11 February 2016 15:44 (eight years ago) link

i beat it last night btw... one sitting... if short length bothers you, this will bother you. probably 4 hours. worth it imo though. it's beautiful and the writing is fantastic and the score is p much perfect and the plot is enough to drive you forward inasmuch as i started it at 11pm last night (i worked OT... got home late) intending to play for an hour and then stayed up to 3am to beat it.

Worth Taking from Little Kid (Will M.), Thursday, 11 February 2016 15:49 (eight years ago) link

i'm not sure how you'd expect "open-wander type game" from those trailers! those trailers screamed linear experience to me, maybe that's why i wasn't disappointed?

Worth Taking from Little Kid (Will M.), Thursday, 11 February 2016 15:50 (eight years ago) link

i kind of want a mod version where you have to keep watch for years of gametime on end, and then after around 500-600 hours of gameplay a small fire breaks out, you tell the person on your walkie talkie, a fire crew arrives and easily puts it out

Karl Malone, Thursday, 11 February 2016 15:51 (eight years ago) link

then it's back to reading the second part of the hunger games trilogy yet again, the only book available in the game to read

Karl Malone, Thursday, 11 February 2016 15:52 (eight years ago) link

Just out of curiosity, what are the PS4 exclusives y'all feel have made the system worthwhile thus far? I'd intended to resist the pull to upgrade and milk my PS3 for as long as humanly possible, but there have actually been very few PS4 releases that I'm all that jealous about.

maybe my clam is just more toxic (Old Lunch), Thursday, 11 February 2016 15:57 (eight years ago) link

i don't mind the short playtime, i actually prefer that at my advanced age. i just didn't enjoy the gameplay and found the characters/plot/setup to be bad. also the structure (not the content) of the narrative "twist" is EXACTLY THE SAME as in gone home. which is a better game.

adam, Thursday, 11 February 2016 16:03 (eight years ago) link

erp looks like my PS4 is dead, refuses to boot up & crashes in safe mode. gonna try and change the hard drive & reinstall before i give up :/

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 11 February 2016 17:37 (eight years ago) link

xxp bloodborne is the only exclusive i can think of at the moment (multi-plat is the wave of the future) and that having been said it is sufficiently valuable to me to rationalize a ps4 purchase; however, ymmv

art, Thursday, 11 February 2016 17:40 (eight years ago) link

Okay, cool. I'm like an hour and a half into Demon's Souls still so I'll probably stick with my expected PS4 purchase sometime after 2020.

maybe my clam is just more toxic (Old Lunch), Thursday, 11 February 2016 17:46 (eight years ago) link

seems like there's still pretty substantial overlap b/t ps4 and ps3 generations (which is kind of crazy tbh) and i could be missing some exclusives but if u haven't been through DeS and DaS then i'd say u still have work to do last gen

art, Thursday, 11 February 2016 18:07 (eight years ago) link

I still have a ton of work to do. I'm honestly trying to figure out how to keep my PS3 viable for the next decade+ (I'm assuming, for example, that PSN will stop supporting previous gen at some point and that I'll need to figure out what to do with my massive backlog of digital games before that happens).
