Really good weary performance as a sheriff in quite a pickle in Bone Tomahawk. "You're pretty angry for a guy named Buddy."

Pair him with Stallone as a stuffy Krampus he's forced to partner with and I'm there.

Only just realizing that the second Guardians of the Galaxy film was a missed opportunity for a Tango & Cash reunion. Devastated, also heartbroken.

Kind of occurred to me what an interesting late career resurgence Kurt has had. Obviously he's kept busy, but Death Proof sort of put him back on the map, or at least reintroduced him not as Kurt Russell, movie star, but as Kurt Russell, icon, where just seeing his face elicits good vibes. But yeah, Death Proof, Hateful Eight (he's not what's wrong with it), Bone Tomahawk, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and apparently he's in a couple of those Fast and Furious movies?

think his role in vanilla sky is v much a respectful nod type of a casting decision too

phil neville jacket (darraghmac), Monday, 19 August 2019 01:15 (four years ago) link

Maybe, I've never seen it. "Miracle" (a couple of years after Vanilla Sky) was arguably his last successful Movie Star role, don't you think? I don't even remember the nu-Poseidon movie.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 19 August 2019 01:24 (four years ago) link

Kurt reportedly excellent in Bone Tomahawk. Not a huge fan of the Western genre (hell, I think it's contributed to present social ills), but I could get behind cowboys vs. cannibals.

Love Bone Tomahawk, director seems ... complicated. He's definitely a provocateur. But hell, Kurt Russell is a gun-loving libertarian, so ...
