His 2012 debut album, Here Come The Bombs, was little more than Supergrass-lite, but his follow-up easily rips up his past and just as effortlessly secures his future. Channeling his maturity, rather than his one time band’s cheeky-chappy personae, Coombes delivers songs that fuse psychedelic/folk balladry (Seven Walls, The Girl Who Fell To Earth), serene soul (To The Wire, Buffalo) and the kind of gently throbbing Krautrock (Detroit, The English Ruse, Needles Eye) that Kraftwerk would surely envy.
