yay! big snout attack!

kingfish, Sunday, 15 July 2007 05:23 (sixteen years ago) link

there was a woman at Crate & Barrel today carting around her 11-week old brindle bulldog - if I weren't a macho bro it would have been total 'squee' time. I am now convinced that English Bulldogs are truly the greatest of all things.

Pit bulls and staffies are aight, but they're a good four or five spots down the list (1. English bulldogs 2. Catahoula Leopard Dogs 3. Manx Cats 4. scotch 6. Anatolian Shepherd Dogs 6. pit bulls & staffies)

milo z, Sunday, 15 July 2007 05:42 (sixteen years ago) link

I got a pit RIGHT when King posted.
Her name is banjo and i love her and we may need to get rid of her because the girlfriend is having a terrible rash reaction to something (likely dog) that required an emergency room visit today. Left eye is half swoll shut.
I'm stressing.

Also:
They're ugly (she's gorgeous)
ill-tempered (loves everybody)
dangerous (she's as soft as a marshmallow)
and, I imagine, probably smell quite bad (smells fine! better than most dawgs)

I'm really hoping i don't need to get rid of this dawg. She's a straight pain in the ass sometimes, but I luv her.

Dear Michael Vick - fuck you asshole.

What a douche puddle!

Michael White, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 01:36 (sixteen years ago) link

OMG Kingfish box of puppies!!!

Banjo looks like a cuddly sweetpile.

Abbott, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 01:51 (sixteen years ago) link

I hope they got a couple of people to turn on Vick and they can actually make this stick. Kiss your $100mn in contracts and endorsements goodbye, asshole.

milo z, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 01:56 (sixteen years ago) link

Man, fuck that guy. One of the Portland Trailblazers was rumored to be involved in dogfighting, and the cops came down on his ass like a ton of bricks.

Okay, found it. here's a press release, when they went after that guy, who was a reserve forward at the time.

kingfish, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 02:27 (sixteen years ago) link

I like the shot of the two blues against the asphalt. "Camouflaged puppy is camouflaged."

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 10:30 (sixteen years ago) link

grrrrrr. my friend's sweet half-pit was killed yesterday by a vicious neighborhood dog (not a pit).

lauren, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:34 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm very sorry to hear that.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:43 (sixteen years ago) link

That's awful. My downstairs neighbour has a scary little Staffy puppy and a 9 month old baby, doesn't strike me as a very sensible combination.

leigh, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Staffy = nanny dog

guys i just reread this thread and got myself all worked up again! wtf. the white muppet pit puppy is the cuetest thing!

also it is still true that my worst animal scars are from a bulldog and a ferret ;_;

Box of puppies was just an example found on GIS, unfortunately, not an actual box poppies i encountered u_u

That Vick story (if proven) is making me looking forward to seeing him get plastered on the turf...
Girl goes to allergist tomorrow; please keep paws crossed.

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 16:59 (sixteen years ago) link

I can't get into the FUMV thread here at work, but I sure do like the title!

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 17:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Any pet + baby is a bad idea if you're not in control of the situation. Even cats can fuck up a baby if they want to.

milo z, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 17:35 (sixteen years ago) link

heh. I was looking for a pic of a dog with a saddle & baby, and i found this instead:

Doggie saddle bags!

kingfish, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 17:42 (sixteen years ago) link

wait--why were you looking for the first thing to begin with?

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 18 July 2007 18:15 (sixteen years ago) link

b/c the whole thing about "baby" + "dog". And somehow, i figured, somewhere, somebody had set up a way for their kid to ride their big horse of a dog.

such is the way connections in my brain work; like james burke, but drunker.

kingfish, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 18:43 (sixteen years ago) link

no, it's cool, i mean i think it would be an awesome picture and i'd like to see such a thing myself. i only have seen monkeys, and cats riding dogs with a saddle.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 18 July 2007 18:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Still can't find one, but i found this white lady making her dog a travois:

last night I dreamed I adopted a pit bull puppy

bernard snowy, Saturday, 28 July 2007 01:15 (sixteen years ago) link

While we were away on holidays, Mister M got nipped on the finger by a dog, which was that well-known vicious breed THE LABRADOR, and some neighbours of my friend came over, and it turns out that their dog had bitten their daughter and still growls at her whenever she comes near. He is of that well-regulated breed the MINIATURE FRENCH POODLE.

Seriously, if my dog growled at my kids, it wouldn't be my dog for much longer.

Also, I just heard about this Michael Vick thing recently, and I'd like him killed, please.

accentmonkey, Sunday, 29 July 2007 08:23 (sixteen years ago) link

I was visiting a friend last night, and another friend of his came over, scratched the host's pup on the head and got a snap for his troubles. A chihuahua/beagle size snap, but still - the friend in question had dogsat the little bugger a few times before, so it's not like he's a total stranger.

Oilyrags, Sunday, 29 July 2007 13:04 (sixteen years ago) link

Badly behaved dogs are badly behaved!!

Laurel, Sunday, 29 July 2007 15:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Followup: girlfriend came back negative for dog allergy and is off steroids and seems to be okay except for recurring swelling on hand.
We think we're okay. Banjo is now a very needy member of the family.

two weeks pass...

The lady in the next cube has a bitch that birthed a litter of 10 blues yesterday!

TEN!

I have been promised photos, and now so have you.

Oilyrags, Friday, 17 August 2007 20:54 (sixteen years ago) link

That is EPIC! Are you going to take one home with you and buy it a little bandana and play frisbee with it and then roast marshmallows around a campfire while he eats a marrow bone?

Abbott, Friday, 17 August 2007 21:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I'd love to, but both of my housemates already have a dog each, so I'm going to have to get a place of my own before I can seriously entertain such thoughts.
