VG!! What magical realism fiction are you enjoying?? I dabbled in this a year or two ago and made it halfway thru One Hundred Years of Solitude and then gave up and read a few Borges short stories and that was that.

I thought it would be much more joyful and whimsical than it actually was :(

One hundred years of solitude is certainly not joyful; Borges is at best sardonic

witcher 3 - haven't loved a game this much in years

all of the music from here - http://testpressing.org/feature/the-2015-end-of-year-review/

redecorating my room/workspace - got a big oak desk/shelves, 3/4 new pictures framed and hung, a new lamp, the kind of stuff i always procrastinated before

a new year - dunno why people hate january i find it the perfect antidote to everything going gradually haywire with parties/booze at the end of the year. i like resolutions and planning and most good things in my life have come from resolutions in the last 4/5 years.

no booze in january - as someone with health probs a lot of my life can feel like a series of obligations, with the constant question of how my health might affect my ability to do them, it is nice to have a month with nobody doing anything alcohol-related.

paris review interviews - one of my ny resolutions is to read all of these - this week read hemingway and capote and both were funny, interesting and useful - amazing free resource

the jd salinger short story "the laughing man" - kinda ticked all the boxes - whimsical, sad, romantic, idiot narrator, brilliantly constructed.

needlecord jeans, kicking myself for not going for some stuff i hadn't seen before on ebay a couple of weeks back. Would have been great.
Large amounts of Grateful Dead early years stuff. I'm mainly into pre-'74 stuff though I did listen to In The dark a couple of nights back and it was pretty great.
Dory Previn, probably need to get the 70s catalogue. Really enjoying the compilation i have even if it does mix up chronology including the late 50s lp.
TAmam Shud great Australian psychedelic concept stuff plus the later singles.
Downliner Sect the rock Sect's In just picked up the repertoire version after having picked up a vinyl copy for 60p when i was like 14 and having loved it since. looking forward to getting the guitarist's recent book when my new edition of Ugly Things arrives.

Finally getting to put out some new seeds into plant containers on my balcony and getting to water them regularly. Should have learnt from last year that the large amounts of rain isn't enough to keep things going. I think all the trees I had grown from seeds planted have died. Though i do still have a lemon thing on my bedroom windowsill.

Reading HUnger by Knut Hamson, only taken me siomething like 30 years to get to do so
also Deal by Bill Kreutzman the Grateful Dead drummer. NIce read, not sure how much of it is ghost written. It's got a nice conversational style to it anyway.
& Peter Ackroyd's london The Biography which I've wanted to read since reading the Observer or Guardian review of it when it came out.

slowly tidying up my flat though it is taking way too long.

Should clear the worktable and get down to cutting and making some new clothing too. Have a lotof fabric I picked up over Xmas and have done very little in it.
Was getting into Line of Duty but now got absolutely up to date with it and found some major flaws in the last episode that were almost join the dots bad. Shame I had enjoyed that mainly.
But christ the bit where the Caddy and jackie are having a showdown and she admits that she quite fancied him or whatever was just naff.
Elementary, got into season 3
Avengers still in cathy Gale era.
Twilight Zone still in 1st season.
Also just been looking at The Pacific, Generation Kill and a few others.
Broad city though just got up to date with that too.
