One of my friends called Baltimore the most misanthropic place on earth. Confirm/deny

deny

i don't really know what that means. it is inhospitable to humans or it is full of hateful people? which?
― someone who is aware how stupid the net is (harbl), Sunday, 19 April 2009 00:25 (fifteen years ago) link
the people in the city mostly hate all people, i think is what he was going for

oh i hate people and i like people that hate people but it seems pretty friendly imo, and not in that cheap midwestern way yuck

i think baltimore has its own particular flavor of misanthropy that could be compared to that of other US cities, but not necessarily in any quantitative way.
― some dude, Monday, 20 April 2009 01:54 (fourteen years ago) link
one time in baltimore i didn't give this lady change and she said BYE! YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE YOU! i know that could happen anywhere but it was really nice of her and not misanthropic at all
― someone who is aware how stupid the net is (harbl), Monday, 20 April 2009 02:10 (fourteen years ago) link
Baltimore is so not misanthropic, it is a total love-fest(except for all the people getting murdered and stuff)
but anyhoo
speaking of love-fest, if any noize people are around in Baltimore:
there is a benefit for the True Vine's tax troubles (bank account seized by the State of Maryland- oh snap)at the Floristree this Friday night- lotsa people are playing:
DAN HIGGS / CEX / JANA HUNTER / COO COO ROCKIN' TIME (fair bros) / BILL NACE
and, er, MATMOS too!
So I don't wanna selfpromote here but it's a benefit for a groovy cause.
― Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Tuesday, 28 April 2009 15:16 (fourteen years ago) link
damn i didn't know about True Vine...love that place, if i can come out to support i will. although i'm sure the place will be full even w/o me.

Jordan asked me this same question last week! this was the list i sent him: the Talking Head Club, the Windup Space, the Metro Gallery, the Ottobar, the Hexagon, Charm City ArtSpace, Floristree
could think of more or give details if u need
― apparent goals of sexiness and detailed vagina mapping (some dude), Friday, 8 May 2009 15:01 (fourteen years ago) link
if you are a noise band, The Bank
if you are free improv, The Red Room
I think the Hexagon is a good starting place- they have a great PA, it's small, conveniently located (though they are tearing up Charles St. on that block right now, nice folks, not too hard to get a show there I reckon
There's a show on the 13th at the Hexagon that I should (self promo alert) mention too:
Peter REHBERG / Marcus SCHMICKLER / MATMOS with Jay LESSERHexagon wednesday may 13th

3 glasses of any of the (delicious) Oliver Ales on tap for $4 until 7pm at the Wharf Rat in Fells Point. There's other stuff to do for an afternoon in Baltimore but this is always how mine go.

gabbipedia: get a crabcake at Faidley's in the Lexington Market (or, on a Saturday afternoon, go to Cross Street Market) then head to the Inner Harbor (checking out Old St. Paul's en route from Faidley's?) and go to the American Visionary Art Museum (walk up Federal Hill) and/or Aquarium (open til 8 on Friday) and/or water taxi to Fells Pt (and Fort McHenry?) (or cruise out to the Key Bridge with http://www.spiritcruisesbaltimore.com/bc/sightseeing/index.jsp or http://www.clippercity.com/ladyanna.html). or if you want less touristy, go up to Mt. Vernon and check out the Basilica, the Peabody, and the Walters.
at least that's what I'm gonna do
