I always feel like this track has mysteries in it I can't quite unlock. I have listened to it on repeat many times in my life.

I had this on multiple repeat the other day, it is old shit that still beautifully evokes the after hours theme.

Ooh, cheers for making me see if someone had re-uploaded the original video for "Comanchee's Revenge" that used Carrie footage from ~3-4 years ago; someone put it up last month:

2017, how bad could it be? (snoball), Saturday, 18 February 2017 18:53 (seven years ago) link

^^^ George Michael's 'Monkey'. When this came out in 1988 I was 14 and made a mix tape to play in my knock-off Argos 'walkman' when I went on a mostly tedious one week summer holiday to Norfolk with my parents - this track was one of the highlights.

I'm gonna be listening to different versions of "New Speedway Boogie" by the Grateful Dead for a while. See you on the other side.

brian eno an ending (an ascent) 45 min version

Week of Wonders (Ross), Sunday, 3 September 2017 02:18 (six years ago) link

Brian Eno's "Through Hollow Lands". Around 1980 I had it taped on one side of a C90 tape as many times as possible. That's only 45 minutes so I am cheating a little here. I listened to it for meditation purposes. Probably I have never come closer to satori ;- That track for me is perfect to clean my brain of those weird things people usually call thoughts.

I do this a lot with catchy pop songs and until i burn myself out on em. "Blue" Gene Tyranny - Next Time might Be Your Time, Honeybus - I Can't let Maggie Go to name two.

I listened to the fearless vampire killers theme for an hour or two last week and not sick of it yet.

Secret Cities: "Bad Trip"
Todd Rundgren: "Couldn't I Just Tell You"
The Tammys: "Egyptian Shumba"
Penguin Cafe Orchestra: "The Sound of Someone You Love Who's Going Away and It Doesn't Matter"
Genesis: "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight"
Seong-Jin Cho: "Clair de lune" (Debussy) - my favorite rendition and I've heard tons
Arthur Russell: "Instrumentals Volume 2, Part 1"
Nick Lowe: "Cruel to Be Kind"
Unrest: "Hydro" (33 min version - I can't remember how many times I played it in a row, but it was definitely more than twice)
God Help The Girl: "Come Monday Night"

What a great thread.

Coming to mind for me, from different points in my life:

Phosphorescent - Song for Zula
Califone - The Orchids (I see that someone else mentioned the Psychic TV original upthread)
Richard & Linda Thompson - I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight
Spoon - Don’t You Evah
OutKast - Spottieottiedopalicious
Dr John - Walk on Gilded Splinters
Van Morrison - Madame George

and most recently

The Pointer Sisters - Automatic

I remember a childhood friend telling a story about doing this all night with Mazzy Star - Fade Into You

I also once spent a whole week holed up in a cabin while working on my dissertation, listening to nothing but Julia Holter - Ekstasis and Terry Riley’s Lisbon Concert (full albums).
