Not that anyone asked, but American Caesar is way damn underrated.

Gotta go with "I'm Bored," but i have to say that I adore "Wild America" (great, great riff).

I was surprised to find when the album came out that no members of Sonic Youth were playing on "Wild America," because it's a total SY type riff.

"Lust for Life" won't win because of Trainspotting and that ad for a cruise ship line, but I think it should. In a perfect vacuum, it's so good.

Just the drum sound makes it untouchable.

between "some weird sin" and "success"

Hadn't occurred to me, but it strikes me as being too clean-sounding to be SY (although now that you mention it, it is pretty similar to the riff of "Titanium Expose" on Goo).

Yeah, it lacks the disorder of a real Lee/Thurston riff, but it's kind of coming from the same place.

I'm not sure if he played on the American Caester album, but didn't hirsute string-bender Wattie Watchell (sp?) play with Ig circa that period? (And wasn't he later busted in some kiddie-porn computer scam ala Garry Glitter?) He now plays for ::::barf::: Stevie Nicks.

Caeser

The internet says Brick by Brick, but he may have hung around for American Caesar in an uncredited manner.

He's been with Stevie longer than some ILMers have been alive.

I voted for "Lust For Life" ahead of "The Passenger" but I need to remedy my ignorance of solo Iggy outside of that album, because my third choice would be "Candy" which I LOOOOVE and I figure if I like that I'll find things to like in the rest of the catalog. I mean "Candy" has an overheated lyric, and I giggle when I listen closely to Iggy struggle to hit and hold the notes, but I love the way the chorus bursts out of the clipped-guitar verses.

To my ears, "Candy" is absolutely the worst thing he's ever done (and that includes licensing "Lust for Life" to Carnival Cruise lines et al.)

ahem

Straight from the Top of My Dom (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 4 April 2009 15:46 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, that's not great either -- but it doesn't make me wince like "Candy" does.
