shameful performance by the asylum demon tbh

i guess they aggro'd crestfallen guy at firelink and killed him lol
― am0n, Thursday, 20 August 2015 14:20 (eight years ago) link
Oh, so it looks like they have been pausing the game and then tallying up the votes before the next unpause. Kind of really cheating imo. Like anyone could probably beat Dark Souls if it paused every 10 seconds and you had a minute or two solid to consider every single move.
Maybe I have it wrong but it looks like what they are doing.
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Thursday, 20 August 2015 14:21 (eight years ago) link
agree but the twitch pokemon did something similar. also even with pause its still hundreds of people fighting over the controller at every move
― am0n, Thursday, 20 August 2015 14:26 (eight years ago) link
here it is with pauses edited out

feel like they should keep another stream running that isn't turn-based
― am0n, Thursday, 20 August 2015 17:48 (eight years ago) link
turn-based Dark Souls is kind of a fun concept on its own, not that i would want to play it.

Already w the controversy.
Yeah I think it is 100% cheating. I mean how many times have I died bc I couldn't pause the game and went to use the restroom or simply tab out and check my email? Not pausing IS the game.
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Thursday, 20 August 2015 18:21 (eight years ago) link
i have def experienced the full gamut of no-pause kills: surprise monster kill, got invaded while getting a soda kill, and the super frustrating put my controller down and accidentally strafed off a cliff kill.
― Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 20 August 2015 18:41 (eight years ago) link
i invaded someone who was afk in Bloodborne last night, right before i had to leave the house. i killed him but now it occurs to me i should have just surrounded him with shiny coins and left without a trace.

― Neil S, Tuesday, 25 August 2015 07:51 (eight years ago) link
since they got the pause/play element added, i can't really get into this anymore.
― Meta Forksclove-Liebeskind (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 25 August 2015 08:08 (eight years ago) link
yeah, watching action-pause-action is far less weirdly compelling than watching them climb up and fall down a ladder in real time

― Neil S, Friday, 11 September 2015 11:40 (eight years ago) link
can't be sure of course but i think o+s is the most time i have spent on a game boss. and after my first run i must've gone through the game min 4 times again and i think i first timed them each time. and it's not like there is some secret trick you have to figure out. v weird, maybe a psychological barrier thing.
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 11 September 2015 12:08 (eight years ago) link
yeah, i think the souls games are really effective at psyching players out with intimidating-looking bosses. Then, once you start to carefully searching out their weaknesses, you get the satisfaction of eventually taking them apart.

that's the ultimate sweaty-palms moment, in a game that induces that sensation more often than any other I have played
― Neil S, Friday, 11 September 2015 13:54 (eight years ago) link
otm. Helped all the more by the fact that you can't pause the game in Dark Souls.
Once they hacked the game to use pausing it ceased to be Dark Souls. They might as well just stick to Pokemon.
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 11 September 2015 16:36 (eight years ago) link
i peeked in on this to see what was up. they're pausing after every two or three seconds of gameplay and allowing a democratic vote for the next button push which takes about a minute. they're on the sanctuary guardian. looks pretty tedious, only 500 or so viewers.

Defeated Knight Artorias the other day. This whole DLC area is maybe my favorite in the game. I love the "Royal Woods" so peaceful. This game has some great forest areas in it!
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Thursday, 22 October 2015 16:43 (eight years ago) link
have you done Manus yet? that was my favorite fight of the whole series probably, if only for how long it took and how i had to legitimately learn how to read each one of his moves. all the DLC bosses are great though.

Not yet, I've had a helluva time getting through the Township. Those blasted sorcerers can one-hit kill me. Just got to the humanity farming spot and already uncovered an entire lower part of the level I have never been to before.

have been thinking about getting the ds2 next gen bundle with the dlc, only hesitating because my chief recollection of the game is that it was disappointing. just looked at a list of the game locations to stir my memory and i'm almost a total blank, i can picture like 2 of the areas based on the names. ds1, demons and bloodborne i am pretty sure i could recall every area in detail.
― Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 22 October 2015 19:35 (eight years ago) link
I've been considering this too. Apparently they've revised and improved enemy placings, and the DLC on Xbox 360 was very good, judging by the little that I played.
― Neil S, Friday, 23 October 2015 09:28 (eight years ago) link
i've played a bit of the revised ds2 and the new enemy placements veered towards unfairly tough in the few areas i visited - those elephant monsters showed up really early iirc and there were big annoying mobs in a few areas. maybe i was just too used to the original placements, i dunno, but it seemed more difficult to me and i gave up pretty quick. i should go back to it at some point and go through the dlc areas.
