iyo what sort of sneakers/trainers is it acceptable for someone pushing 30 to wear?

I'd avoid sneakers that light up or squeak when you walk, or feature Disney characters, but otherwise, pushing 30 is still young enough* to wear what you want without comment.

*You can wear whatever you want no matter how old you.
