Besides Banhart, another of the Bunnybrains’ famous fans is acclaimed pop singer and bassist Me’Shell Ndegeocello, who as of late has been collaborating with Seward on a soundscape project.

Here’s an idea.Promote Mos Def for a semes-ter and then attribute it to being a rumor. Noise punk comes out of Connecticut? After two decades of Bunnybrains, the idea is almost fathomable. The revolving mass of yelping misfits, who glued together in Danbury in 1988, have outlasted their notable freak-squall alter egos Eg the Poet and Beme Seed—a victory accountable to more than 50 folks who've been on the payroll at one point or another—and still deliver the madness and fluids of a younger, saner troupe. This is acerbic and nonsensical, skippy and frantic, and pretty damn disturbing at the core—and pity to any"

Bunnybrains - What Makes You Think You Can Save Yourself (From Yourself)Posted by Joe On June - 26 - 2009
Genre: Indie Rock, Noise, Lo-Fi.
I like my albums to contain music. Maybe I’m backwards in my thinking, but it’s the truth. And if they don’t contain music, I want what’s on there to sound good. What Makes is borderline music, borderline “let’s record whatever we want.”
bunnybrains-what-makes-you-think-album-cover
There are very few tracks on the album that are actual “music.” There’s a lot of noise/people playing around, but not a lot of music.
Instrumentally, the album is all over the place. It’s obvious they’re going for some sort of “new age hippie” thing, but I feel like the original hippies had a purpose in mind, and these blokes don’t. Actually I’m pretty sure the group is made up of a bro and a chick. As you can hear from the above track, Bunnybrains thought it acceptable to leave instrumental mistakes in their music. In fact, the album is riddled with them. Mind you, “Love Tree In The Yard” is one of the more structured pieces on the release. Breaking free from conventional time signatures is all well and good, but there has to be some order to the song. There’s a thunderstorm going on right now outside of my house, and I can’t tell if the rumbling is coming from my headphones or the thunder. Did I mention that this album is decently lo-fi?
Vocally, I’ll share the following. Hippies in the 60s had a couple purposes in mind. Love, the war, drugs, and a couple extras here and there. Hippie music tends to talk about those things. In general, hippie music was kind of understandable, even though a lot of it was hidden behind drug metaphors. I can’t understand what the crap Bunnybrains is talking about. 60s hippies could still generally sing in tune. Bunnybrains’ male and female vocalists sound terrible. They’re all over the place. Which leads me to conclude the following: 1) LSD is a lot more potent nowadays, and screws you up so much that it’s impossible to sing close to the right notes, whereas weaker LSD in the 60s allowed for correct tuning, or 2)Bunnybrains’ vocalists can’t sing. Whichever one it is, make the necessary change, ya know? Where’s the good stuff?
Overall, I can’t give this album a good rating in clear conscience. I would be doing a disservice to all of the musicians out there who try to make art, instead of recording unstructured “jams” with a bunch of hollering overtop the instruments. Thus, my rating.
My Rating: 1.9/10
P.S. - I gave it 1.9 because there’s probably a thousand people out of the 6 billion on this earth that would disagree with me. I can’t see it being more than that. Goodnight, and good luck.

SCOTTI BRAINSKEEP YOUR EYES OPEN BOYLimited and numbered to 250 copies on Speedy Wunderground (The label has previously released singles by Steve Mason and Emiliana Torrini, The Archie Bronson Outfit and Toy and Natasha Khan). Scotti Brains is label chief and producer Dan Carey, best friend and fellow producer / recording artist Oli Bayston and Beth Buxton. Taking their name from a shared love of San Franciscan psych band Bunny Brains and Dan's cat Scotti (who coincidentally is prone to close his eyes and 'dance' upon hearing Bunny Brains), Scotti Brains was initially a project born out of early morning recording sessions following parties at Dan's South London studio.

NOW"Basket Full of Noise" article by Peter Aaron (Chronogram)http://www.chronogram.com/issue/2009/4/Music/Basketful-of-Noisesays Dan: "Years later, I learned that a lot of the kids secretly respected me for being different, but when I was on these bills with [hardcore crew] Youth of Today or whoever, most of the audience just wanted to kill me.”
THEN"Acid-gobbling psychedelia, performance-art mayhem and an obscure album Matador supposedly released on a dare. These are the planks that build record geeks' wet dreams, and they are all part of the story of Connecticut's Bunny Brains. The band slithered around on its stomach through the '90s.....The Brains picked the ugliest scabs off the Butthole Surfers and ate them with a smile." -Pat Wensink
