My guild finally took out three-drake Sartharion and now I don't know what to do on Sunday nights :,(

ACHIEVEMENTS!

I'm going after as many of the raiding achievements as I can get before the patch comes out (Immortal Naxx tonight, 6-minute Maly Thursday, heroics in the interim) plus fishing/cooking achievements (lol need to do ZG and SSC for that tho).

grr of course I find out NOW that I have dinner plans, grr

BADGES DON'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO WALTZ OFF WITH A BABY (HI DERE), Tuesday, 31 March 2009 19:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh, I'd go for the raid achievements if it weren't for the damned Immortal/Undying ones. Though I am working on grinding out my "the Insane" title in my spare time; at this rate I should earn it shortly before the sun goes supernova. Can't wait for Ulduar, though- the instance looks gorgeous, which will be a huge relief after graduating from the amazingly designed five-man Wrath content to an endgame that essentially consists of a couple of large rooms and a recycled level 60 raid direly in need of some graphical touchups (beyond removing "doodad_nox_door" in the last patch).

Also, while it's going to be rare as hell and probably require a hard mode kill, I must acquire the flying gnome head. A 310% mount that looks like the Warcraft version of the final boss of Super Mario World? Yes please.

Telephone thing, Tuesday, 31 March 2009 21:24 (fifteen years ago) link

The flying gnome head is indeed awesome. In the last few weeks, we tried 6 minute Malygos and the Immortal, and both were utter failures each week. Made us wish we had started on those a long time ago instead of trying to cram them in right before the patch.

Eff achievements, though.

The Lost Boys Buff Guy Playing Sax (rockapads), Tuesday, 31 March 2009 22:35 (fifteen years ago) link

Ulduar is gonna be fucking fantastic.

Wrath is really the first time I've done the "serious raider" thing; I've always been 2nd or 3rd tier in my guild, so I've never gotten to see content before it was on farm until this go-round, so I didn't mind that it was pretty easy (never saw Naxx the first go-round; hell, I've still never been to the end of Black Temple, never seen Sunwell Plateau, and just set foot in BWL for the first time about 4 weeks ago).

BADGES DON'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO WALTZ OFF WITH A BABY (HI DERE), Tuesday, 31 March 2009 22:55 (fifteen years ago) link

It's because those raid instances were largely designed for people without lives, Naxx and SWP in particular. But then I'm one of those scrubs that thought BC raiding was far too hard for the rewards gained.

Matt M., Wednesday, 1 April 2009 00:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Our guild cleared BT - killed Illidan the very night before the nerf - and I have to say it was a great instance. If the Blizzard pattern holds true, whatever comes between Icecrown and the next expansion will be the next no-life Naxx(original)/SWP.
I flip back and forth on raiding. Since I started with my own guild in Karazhan, I've switched mains (twice) and quit raiding forever (also twice).
I have been on the verge of quitting again, lately, but Uld looks pretty bad-ass so I'm sticking it out and trying to get the rest of my set in Naxx. Here's my dude btw. I always have trouble playing when the weather gets nice.

Oh man, I just realized I never posted my character info in this thread. Could've sworn I had months ago. <a href="http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Turalyon&n=Corit";>Here I am</a> in case you find yourself with an Alliance character on Turalyon.

Oh, you know, acting like morons in /trade, losing Arathi Basin, the usual. You?

Telephone thing, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 18:32 (fifteen years ago) link

lol

Really, I only went Alliance because everyone I knew who played went Alliance; otherwise I'd have been Tauren from the get-go (still love that race, so cool looking esp. the shamans).

ur an ugly hamster-abusing "girl" or whatever u are, gtfo (HI DERE), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 18:47 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah, friends were the biggest reason I rolled horde. that and, i probably wouldn't have even bought WoW if I hadn't been told I could play an orc. For some reason I love orcs in any game, movie, or book, that has them. But especially WoW's version.. the whole noble warrior-code thing.

The Lost Boys Buff Guy Playing Sax (rockapads), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 18:59 (fifteen years ago) link

Taurens are great, too, but they are too damn big. I get sick of trying to see around them all the time.

The Lost Boys Buff Guy Playing Sax (rockapads), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 18:59 (fifteen years ago) link

I might have been tempted to go horde if goblins were a playable race, but as it is the Alliance currently corner the market on tiny goggle-wearing maniacs.

Telephone thing, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 21:03 (fifteen years ago) link

They should make a third faction out of the neutral races; goblins, tuskarr, furbolgs, dragons and murlocs.

I played on a pvp server as Horde and gained a healthy burning hatred for the Alliance. Bunch of filthy savages imo.

Also, yeah, why are goblins still not playable? Horde needs a small race.

hah, same here. I've been moonlighting on a PvE server lately and I don't even understand why people on those servers have any animosity toward each other.

The Lost Boys Buff Guy Playing Sax (rockapads), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 21:28 (fifteen years ago) link

Undead are the small race for the Horde. Geez, we're tiny compared to everyone else.

Sleight on The Scryers. I forget how to do URLs on this thingy.

Matt M., Wednesday, 1 April 2009 22:33 (fifteen years ago) link

just paste the URL, the board will linkify it for you

Note that I'm retired as of last night, likely only to play with a group of college friends for the...fun of it and not to be a 'leet raider.

Matt M., Thursday, 2 April 2009 00:33 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm thinking about starting up again. Does ILX have a raiding guild or something?

Mordy, Saturday, 11 April 2009 23:20 (fifteen years ago) link

Ha, nope. We're all scattered all over the place.

maybe u should tell that to your laughing vagina (HI DERE), Sunday, 12 April 2009 01:40 (fifteen years ago) link

I was messing around on PTR, and I must say dual specs are very cool. Almost makes me wish I was a hybrid class so they were useful to me.

slugbaiting (rockapads), Sunday, 12 April 2009 05:12 (fifteen years ago) link

Same here- dual specs are neat, and it'll be nice to be able to PVP without having to pay for the privilege every time, but it's a bit of an anticlimax when your class's talent trees all essentially boil down to "stab the mans til they falls down".

Telephone thing, Sunday, 12 April 2009 09:49 (fifteen years ago) link

so I keep looking at websites for guilds like LootFTW and Exodus and wondering why these ppl play World of Warcraft if all they want to do is blast through content as fast as they possibly can

have fun waiting for new content

bnw, Thursday, 16 April 2009 16:52 (fifteen years ago) link

seriously... what fun is that?

the thing I can't figure out is that my whole guild is decked out in T7.5 gear, tanks are all wearing best-in-slot stuff, and our two groups doing 10-man Uld got owned last night. Couldn't even kill whatever boss is after flame leviathan. i suspect some of them went in there expecting to destroy the place and got a lesson in humility (example: one tank was still using his threat spec and gear set). i'm doing heroic tonight, so that should be fun.

slugbaiting (rockapads), Thursday, 16 April 2009 18:04 (fifteen years ago) link

Isn't the boss after Flame Leviathan the one who throws a random person into a melting pot that does 7k dmg/sec?

they did a really good job with it. too bad i can't really justify the cost on a DK (no interest in tanking or pvping)

slugbaiting (rockapads), Thursday, 16 April 2009 20:27 (fifteen years ago) link

seriously considering switching mains lately.

grrr fucking job making me miss our first foray into ulduar

we downed leviathan and got Razorscale after about seven attempts. Apparently Ignis is bugged, so we skipped ahead to XT-002 and wiped on him 3 times before calling it a night. we raid for 3 hours 3x a week. bunch of fogies in our guild. so far i'm enjoying the Ulduar fights quite a bit!

slugbaiting (rockapads), Friday, 17 April 2009 17:01 (fourteen years ago) link

Started a Paladin a few days ago, got a leveling guide and basically binged over Passover. Paladin is now level 50. I'm officially switching mains from my rogue. Turns out rogues suck at powerleveling. Paladins are the win.

Mordy, Saturday, 18 April 2009 20:51 (fourteen years ago) link

one thing dual specs have done is make me wish I had a true hybrid class. I finally bought a 2nd spec for my DK but it feels wasted since I'm not really all that interested in tanking. Pallies and shaman are excellent choices for a main.

slugbaiting (rockapads), Sunday, 19 April 2009 00:47 (fourteen years ago) link

XT-002 is incredibly, amazingly annoying! Pretty awesome boss, but WOW what an annoying fight; ditto Kologarn (stupid fucking eyebeams).

The trash in the antechamber is crazy! I now see what I was missing in not doing BWL, pre-nerf BT or SWP.

I can sit in my car all day, and that doesn't make me a car. (HI DERE), Monday, 20 April 2009 16:01 (fourteen years ago) link

You're further than us. We spent all night last night wiping on XT-002. A few people had done it on 10-man, but were mystified about why we were getting owned so hard. We only had one mage in group and he was arcane, so we were having a hard time snaring/stopping the little scrapbot things.

slugbaiting (rockapads), Monday, 20 April 2009 21:52 (fourteen years ago) link

Because of my schedule last week, XT-002 is the only boss fight in the courtyard that I've done; 25-man Flame Leviathan and Razorscale were downed on a night I couldn't go (they skipped Ignis) and the 10-man pug I did picked me up after the courtyard had been cleared.

So, I know the fights inside Ulduar but I don't know the first few, lol.
