nice work

i'm largely in favour of benham (oppet?) but it has the feel of a grand tragedy that could take many years to fully unfold

the spieth hole-ease impresseth us (imago), Monday, 22 June 2015 22:57 (eight years ago) link

Thank you for starting this thread so I don't have to, esp as it means I can give up trying to think of something else to post abt on ilx.

Benham is good, did the right thing in letting Warburton go, and has the support of the fans at the moment (I think). The stats side of this new project seems like a reasonable development. It's easy to clown it but the merits are pretty obvious.

Ankersen seems like a complete wanker tbh, the worst kind of TED talk modern business charlatan, and that's where I can see it all falling apart. Using stats and analysis to gain advantages is fine but all the extra motivational stuff is total shit and I wouldn't be surprised at yer seasoned pro footballers rolling their eyes and telling him to do one if he gets involved at that level. Hopefully Ankersen's worst aspects will be tempered by his co-DoF, an affable geordie everybloke.

The head of football philosophy's job description seems like something any reasonably modern club would have. The stupid job title is just needless attention grabbing from the marketing dept who gave us the 'football is a village' statement and end every tweet with #BigNewAmbitions.

We've signed AC Milan's set piece coach as well. And a ball striking coach.

Andreas Bjelland has been ruled out for the season after sustaining a serious knee injury, Brentford have confirmed.

The club's record signing sustained the injury in the Bees' 4-0 defeat to Oxford in the Capital One Cup.

Leave it out! Half the first team is injured. And we have to re-turf the pitch after two games because it's in such a state already.
