There doesn't seem to be a way to link to those specific blog posts but the Silkworm tag gets you there.

It's mentioned upthread but I didn't know this:
While there’s no denying the looser, Crustier vibe on Lifestyle, the influence of Cohen’s other side gig – as a temporary replacement for injured Bush guitarist Nigel Pulsford – thankfully had no effect on the album’s recording. Though Silkworm themselves are still scratching their heads about the absurdity of it all, the circumstances surrounding Cohen’s brief tenure as an alterna-rock scab are not as bizarre as they first seemed – Bush’s 1996 release, Razorblade Suitcase, was produced by longtime 'Worm cohort Steve Albini, who turned on Gavin and Co. to Cohen’s raggedly glorious guitar mastery. And the fact that Cohen, like Pulsford, is, shall we say, follicularly challenged only sealed the deal.
“Andy actually looks like that guy,” Dahlquist agrees. “I don’t think any of their fans knew the difference, because all they do is just stare at Gavin. But I have seen no musical effect on Silkworm – the Bush thing, as I’m sure you’re aware, was considered very funny by all of us.
"But, oh man, was Andy corrupted – he was so into it, this remarkable lifestyle. I went and saw him in D.C. playing with Bush at RFK Stadium in front of 60,000 people, and I was corrupted myself. I couldn’t believe it. When Andy came back, he was like, 'Let’s sell out now!’”

from the label copy for the new sunn 0))) record:
Tim Midyett, a close friend of Greg and Stephen since the Seattle days of the early 90s (and member of Silkworm, Bottomless Pit and Mint Mile), joined in a foundational role tying earth to sound with wicked performances on aluminium neck bass and baritone guitars: instruments he helped pioneer playing back in the 90s (alongside Steve and Shellac of course). Dark matter is reality.
― adam, Monday, 11 February 2019 16:23 (five years ago) link
Yeah, I caught that detail - really cool. I can't say I'd ever have pegged him for a Sunn O))) collaborator, but I'm excited to hear it.

SKWM & Engine Kid (Greg's old band) were deep Seattle bros, I get the sense in no small part to be outsiders to the dominant Seattle scene at the time, but they toured together as well.
Tim told an amazing story once about a crowd not treating SKWM very well and Engine Kid deciding to avenge them by playing through all of their gear AND SKWM's at maximum volume in some tiny club and the end result being a sort of proto-Sunn on the loudness scale.

kind of a weird show, there were only about 12 people watching them play, with the loud bar talkers overpowering the beginning of andy's set. but it was nice, andy played some new songs and/or songs i didn't recognize but also played "severance pay" and "summerwind," as well as covers of "warm machine" by bush and "if you want blood (you got it)" by ac/dc. andy and tim played "ooh la la" together in between their sets, a highlight. i had to leave during tim's set but he seemed to playing mint mile and newer songs, and the baritone guitar sounded great.

it did remind me how good the bottomless pit albums are. listened to those this morning for the first time in a while.
― na (NA), Monday, 17 June 2019 15:22 (four years ago) link
That show sounds so much like the time I saw Bottomless Pit. If I recall correctly there were maybe 20 people. In a town of 595,141 people, 20 people coming out to see living rock and roll legends rock and roll just didn't make sense. What is wrong with people. I guess if they don't want to see the stage lights reflecting off Tim's shiny Travis Bean baritone, that can be their problem.
― del griffith, Monday, 17 June 2019 16:49 (four years ago) link
the bottomless pit/mint mile shows i've been to here in chicago were generally well-attended. this bar show just wasn't really promoted much i don't think, i saw it bounce around on twitter but it wasn't listed on the free weekly's website of music happenings for example
― na (NA), Monday, 17 June 2019 17:23 (four years ago) link
The attendance for just about every SKWM/Bottomless Pit show (other than a few notable exceptions) I saw was had..."exclusive" or maybe "elite" is better, turn out

this one was "intimate"
― na (NA), Monday, 17 June 2019 18:06 (four years ago) link
If I'd had known about this, I totally would have gone to this - I had lunch today with a buddy that bought Andy's old house in Chicago some years back and he said he was too Father's Day tired to go, and then I gave him grief for a few minutes for not letting me know! Long Room, I'm guessing was a bad venue, though.

all the Neil Young Homegrown anticipation energy made me put on the greatest classic rock album of all-time: Marquee Mark
had never noticed til now the lil stage banter part between "Never Met a Man I Didn't Like" and "Heard it Through the Grapevine" where I believe it is Andy who says "no we're not playing any fucking Wallflowers songs, who told you that?"
