I Heard You Polling - The Yo La Tengo Poll Results Thread. (ILM Poll #61)

For what it's worth, the songs are not connected to the players, unless I hit upon something accidentally. They were matched according to length of song/album title and how much available space there was--Yo La Tengo sometimes have very long album titles. Every card is from the '70s.

I didn't even think to match Dock Ellis with "Sugarcube."

I personal favorite of mine. I grew up with the Madeline books. Listening to the song, I always picture her as a grown up.

JR Richard was one of my favorite players growing up.
Madeline however did not make my final ballot.

I love Center of Gravity, such a nice little interlude in I Can Hear...

tears are in your eyes is a lovely song. i always think of atntiio as an album about depression, particularly struggling with it with someone else that you love, and tears are in your eyes kind of marks the lowest point of the sadness and the beginnings of recovery.

Upside-down was pretty high on my ballot. I need to listen to May I Sing With Me some more but that's the one that's always really stuck out to me.

Aight. This is it for today. Already a classic collections of songs imo.

"Upside-Down" is one of the most perfect 3-minute rock songs ever, imo. No fadeout, they really stick the landing.

I can't even remember "Today Is the Day." I wish I didn't, but I see the title and think of the Smashing Pumpkins.

No Blue Jays. After the initial excitement of getting the franchise and maybe the first few weeks, I barely paid attention to the Blue Jays in the '70s. They were pretty terrible. I was much more caught up in all the drama of the Yankees at the time.
