for some reason i've decided to watch every episode of ds9 chronologically. enjoying it so far even though i haven't gotten to the good seasons yet

highlights from season 1'the vortex' - plot in this one is w/e but i found the guest performance endearingly weird'progress' - seems like they had the kira episodes down from the start whereas some of the other characters aren't that interesting yet. also the throwaway scene where o'brien talks to jake and nog is funny'duet' - obv

just watched the 2-parter where sisko and bashir get transported back in time to 2024 san francisco which is almost believably distopian

finished season 3, i think season 2 had more good standalone episodes but the story arc stuff starts to take off here. s3 highlights:"defiant" - riker"past tense" pt 1&2 - as mentioned in my previous post"destiny" - best take so far on the federation science vs bajoran religion subtheme"visionary" - o'brien keeps seeing scenes of disaster from 5 hours in the future and has to prevent them, goofy time travel ep but i thought it was fun & well done"improbable cause"/"the die is cast" - main story arc, this is where shit really starts to get good

maybe this is one for i love comics but can ian or someone informed speak on those glossy bound photorealistic Star Trek: New Visions?
I was waiting for a record store to open and killed time browsing one of these, owner looked at me strange as I was laughing out loud at how boned out and '96 clip art the thing was. Maybe the creator or licensor was photoshopping himself into the story? It felt very demented with shades of old man lol tubmlr Henry Darger.
none of these are from Hollow Man but here:

been rewatching some voyager before bed this week
there are some pretty messed-up voyager episodes in the later seasons! one in particular has the crew discovering they aren't actually voyager, but a copy that happened after a biomimetic planet encountered the ship. they're happily on their way to the alpha quadrant when everyone's body and the ship itself start breaking down.

"The Galileo Seven" - Spock does everything in his power to save the crew of the downed shuttle despite every one of them being fucking dicks

Today I saw the one where Spock falls in love and hangs upside down from a tree branch. Sweet.

Falls in love with Charles Bronson's wife but Kirk ruins it, though, in doing so, he saves us from more of McCoy wandering about making mint juleps and saying y'all.

McCoy is such a racist douche. This is the one with the exploding poppies, right?
― Rock Wokeman (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 27 December 2016 23:51 (seven years ago) link
Indeed, though it's Kirk who chucks a lot of inane racist insults at Spock in order to get him angry enough to overcome the deleterious effects of being in love and happy.

in the 23rd century all the nations on Earth have overcome their differences and come together to be virulently racist against Vulcans

Classic episode was just on: Good Kirk/Evil Kirk. The combined scientific and medical knowledge of Spock and Bones insufficient to work out that the way you distinguish between the two is Evil Kirk wears more eyeliner. Warp factor scenery chewing from Shatner.
