I have the biggest weakness ever for dance/electronic music w/ heavy Middle Eastern/South Asian influence (which is prob rly reductive to lump together but I feel like there's some overlap w/ vocal stylings and types of instruments used)

Also everyone seems to have lost their minds over the Shamir album and I was kind of skeptical until I heard the opening song:

yeah, i'd been sorta missing shamir until now but this is really good

There's a new Chemical Brothers album out in July and I'm currently obsessed with this song off of it:

one month passes...

This is a quick, mid-year reminder that all available tracks mentioned on this thread (and a handful of album selections from each listed) are being posted as updated to the thread-specific Spotify playlist. I just did a top-to-bottom sweep prior to posting this message and have updated as of today with everything that's been added on Spotify since it was first mentioned.

I think everything that's on the thread is on the playlist! A first!

I'm lukewarm on the new Florence album overall (this band is nothing without histrionics) but this song is great:

Dear Dan,
I thought of you.

^three hour 80's goth hits mixtape:

Curated last year by the always-intriguing S13, the mix delves into the dark territories—we’re talking the deep cuts, none of this ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ stuff. The boisterous deathrock of Mighty Sphincter, Specimen’s Batcave trashiness, the artsy weirdness of Red Wedding and early 4AD stalwarts Mass, evocative and angular sounds from Skeletal Family and Red Temple Spirits and touches of propulsive EBM all feature in this massive mix. Highly worth revisiting—or discovering for the first time.

i keep sorta starting it, getting four songs in and feeling like i need time to focus and digest and backing away slowly.
everything on it is excellent, just wanna let it connect at the pace it's demanding.
