OTM, one thing this VERY IMPORTANT and VERY POLITICAL and VERY BLACK and VERY CONCEPT-ORIENTED album doesn't get enough credit for is being fun
twenty or so spins later, it's a surprising comfort listen with very few cuts (i'm looking at you "for free" and "i")

yeah i think his sense of humor and playfulness and ear for hooks come out in this album much more than GKMC

xp i agree. I love good kid but engaging in that narrative got exhausting after awhile. This one feels strikingly less overbearing.

is everyone still listening to this? i dont really feel like going back to it that much. i know its brilliant, i admire it loads, but dont really think i will love it, and thats okay, not everything has to be emotional like that, but it does have this distance. its like rap theatre. i feel like this is the kind of rap album a playwright or novelist would write. obv it could also just be that im not in the mood for anything demanding right now.

I put it on on Sunday evening and had to turn it off because its general density was just too much for my head at that particular moment. This isn't a negative reflection on the album in the slightest.

i'm finding it pretty addictive tbh, esp in this weather - though it really clicked in terms of listenability when i started skipping "u". hooks and awesome sonic details everywhere.
