were Hoffman and spieth goodnaturedly zinging each others bad shots or did I mishear a few things

They were as were their caddies

Traditional course setup on Sundays is set for drama. Look for big moves by guys who have been there like woods and bitch tits

Another great putt by Spieth: -18

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 12 April 2015 19:33 (nine years ago) link

bogey Phil, 7 behind. Only Rose or Spieth can beat Spieth.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 12 April 2015 19:52 (nine years ago) link

putt to save double bogey spieth, just about keeps the lid on it.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 12 April 2015 20:01 (nine years ago) link

now Rose for par..

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 12 April 2015 20:01 (nine years ago) link

got it! 3xbehind.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 12 April 2015 20:02 (nine years ago) link

Spieth close to unraveling there, could be the key hole in the final day.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 12 April 2015 20:03 (nine years ago) link

Rose nearly blew the roof off!

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 12 April 2015 20:25 (nine years ago) link

His first television work was for the BBC at the 1961 Open Championship, when he was still a golfer who had competed in the tournament. After his retirement as a player, Alliss worked full-time in television, becoming the lead BBC golf commentator in 1978.[8]

This is all tears btw.

Great stuff Spieth - he may win more majors but this is a once in a lifetime weekend performance from him. Half boring, half pleasure to witness.

great finish in regulation, that was fun. i don't really care for fowler but anyone who plays 17 like that is a deserving winner.

Par 3's that are downhill one day, uphill the next. Par 4's that turn into par 5's mid-tournament and fairways that are indistinguishable from greens.Bring it on, although 6 hr+ rounds are a blight on humanity.

i do like the concept of 500(?)-car long trains passing as you have to hit your tee shot

johnny crunch, Thursday, 18 June 2015 11:29 (eight years ago) link

Similar to the Safeco Field trains which the Mariners tried to ban years ago, the Chambers Bay trains traveling by add to an already scenic atmosphere, imo. If the players can focus enough to tune out the spectators milling around, the train noise shouldn't be a major distraction.

Will be interested to see if the field tires from the course's elevation changes, and to read the post-Open course reviews. A number of league friends are marshaling volunteers this week. Looking forward to their reports, too.

LOL Woods.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 19 June 2015 08:38 (eight years ago) link

Was incredible to watch all 18 holes of Tiger's round. It is barely believable that he is now THIS bad. His 3 wood to 18 was extraordinary for a professional golfer. Rickie Fowler should be ashamed to have scored even worse.

otm. Golf is obv hard & that shit happens but for any pro it's really rare u see that, like count on one hand ive seen it in like ~10 years

johnny crunch, Friday, 19 June 2015 13:57 (eight years ago) link

watching the stream, spieth just now on the par-switching 18th: "this is the dumbest hole i've ever played in my life"
