as a fixture on the ymca circuit i can tell you he is not a ymca player

iggy had a minute when he was playing better but yeah he really fell off a cliff the last few years whats up w that, i guess he is kinda the prototypical reliant on athleticism type but he always seemed like a decently skilled player even if he never had one really good offensive skill

iggy at least defenses still guard even if maybe they shdnt thabo u dont have to guard

one time they filmed a real world dc at my ymca and the cast tried to play in a pick up game. they were definitely not ymca players

imo the reason thabo can't shoot anymore is that defense started guarding him a little (slow release)

thabo shooting 41/32 while never being guarded btw not sure what that is in per 36min averages

I just totally disagree with the idea that there's no place for defensive role players. You really don't need 5 great scorers on the court, as the Warriors are proving. Yeah Bogut can pass a little, and a guy like Rodman had OREB and passing too, but it's ok and perhaps even a net positive to have guys who are entirely focused on defense. There hasn't been some sea change where guys like that aren't useful. They were useful back in the 70s and 80s when pace was high and they're useful now too.

right and the league adjusted imo. Started doing soft close outs.

i feel like in todays game u need to be able todo some offense, like even if u are big #1 rim protecting center at least be able to catch and dunk on the roll

I mean look at the Rockets with Pat Bev. There's not a lot on offense there, and they really miss him.

i mean like fine i u want to use him situationally off the bench to cool down a primary scorer but they cldve got someone better for that role prob

imo the thing with thabo is he's like the most replaceable player i can think of

thabo sefolosha is definitely replaceable. but it makes perfect sense that he won a title with that pistons team - which was a madcap collection of roleplayers and B+ dudes w/o a clear star (although i guess sheed was more of a star than even the best-known hawks player) - and also why he's on a team like the hawks now.

well initially it was a denunciation of defensive role players

that too, tho as i was clear abt u can have defensive role players they just need to be either a. better than thabo at O or b. big man rim protectors

srsly tho ppl like ai who both embrace and expose the absurdity of capitalism are heroes imo

If your argument is that there's some really key offensive difference between Andre Iguodala 2015 and Thabo 2015 idk man.

I always heard that Iverson just sat at the stage and tipped ones dourly, maybe he just had a bad day.

i'd suggest that ai write a book on strip club etiquette but i don't think it would have a very wide audience

he's very much not decent on offense and neither is Iguodala and yet they're rotation players for two elite teams in this modern, changed NBA that doesn't like defensive role players

igoudala's shot really comes and goes but he can still make things happen on the fastbreak and is a nifty passer, they're not really comparable offensive players

all good teams have bad players on them it doesnt mean those players are making the teams better it just means those are the players the teams have

he plays for an offensive juggernaut that creates transition opportunities nonstop and averages 1 more assist per 36 and the same number of points xp

your argument was that it's never "fine" to have a guy who doesn't offer anything on offense and it seems very much "fine" for these two teams that are the top seeds in their conferences.

So now you're making it all about Thabo being specifically, legendarily bad in some way which doesn't really wash.
