i have no prob with them trading chandler but that return is really abysmal, if they shopped him around and chose that they should've hung onto him
idk how the JR/shump trade worked out but given how desperate the Cavs were at that point I feel like they could've wrung that first rounder out of them
that said they needed to get rid of all those guys and they were prob gonna get fungible pieces back regardless, i honestly don't think we can glean much
i think this summer will be a much clearer indication of phil's worth as a GM

phil doesn't seem to get that if you're gonna firesale all your assets you at least need to get something back

I can't really imagine JR Smith and Iman Shumpert fetching a first rounder. Possible I guess but you'd have to find a real idiot.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, April 9, 2015 11:02 PM (25 minutes ago)
it's a three team deal! phil sent the 2 best players in the deal and ANOTHER TEAM got the 1st rounder! it's utterly indefensible
― k3vin k., Friday, 10 April 2015 03:30 (nine years ago) link
btw i am watching this game and the steph/dame battle is amazing
steph and dame always seem to have at least one game a year that's just fierce as hell

it's not phil's fault that Sam Presti thought Waiters was awesome. If OKC had offered him the first rounder for Smith and Shumpert I'm sure he'd have taken it.
Could he have somehow gotten the pick by threatening to blow up the deal? I personally doubt it.
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 10 April 2015 03:36 (nine years ago) link
how are the cavs getting the wing help they wanted if phil doesn't do the deal?
― k3vin k., Friday, 10 April 2015 03:38 (nine years ago) link
the knicks as a franchise have not exactly valued the draft historically speaking, I mean I legit would not be surprised if phil trades their high as hell pick in some sort of deal for a free agent.

I don't think he's quite that stupid - even if he does still believe in the triangle in 2015 - but I wouldn't be shocked.
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 10 April 2015 03:42 (nine years ago) link
the bulls ran the triangle a lot tonight btw
― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 10 April 2015 03:45 (nine years ago) link
it's tough cuz he's got what 2-3 years of melo being decent and if they believe in melo as a possible championship leader you can't waste that time developing a teenaged center
― Clay, Friday, 10 April 2015 03:46 (nine years ago) link
somehow it worked, it turns out that having big men pass to people cutting to the basket works even in this modern age xp

kev what do you think about cj mccollum? he's been coming on in the past month or so.
― Clay, Friday, 10 April 2015 04:40 (nine years ago) link
i think mccollum is a nice poor-man's dame. they can use some offense off the bench, he's great for them as a 3rd or 4th guard
― k3vin k., Friday, 10 April 2015 04:44 (nine years ago) link
wow that move by curry to evade LMA under the basket
― k3vin k., Friday, 10 April 2015 04:45 (nine years ago) link
cj didn't really strike me as a guy who would make it in the league but i've been convinced he can involve into a decent 7th-8th man. he's got confidence if nothing else.
