yeah there really were some TMac 2.0 moments, all kidding aside. That 3 pointer fest vs. portland I think it was.

I can't decide whether I love Vivek Ranadive's existence or hate it.

Vlade is highly qualified tho, it's not like they hired Mark Jackson or something.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:46 (nine years ago) link
it's not the selection of a particular individual as much as the "process" that went into it

kawhi is who people thought paul george was. or wanted him to be. and more
― k3vin k., Thursday, April 9, 2015 3:08 AM (23 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink
I get what you're saying, but the Paul George Hype Squad thought he was more of an offensive highlight reel than Kawhi is.
Kawhi is like some terrifying combo of Pippen and Artest. Offensive game is way more physical and old school than anyone thought George's was. Also better than his was.
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 11:34 PM (14 minutes ago)
you're right, but they're kind of similar actually! both killer midrange shooters, highlight-reel dunkers. neither are exactly pippen/iguodala with the ball handling/passing, though kawhi's better. and kawhi's the better team offensive player, though how much of that is due to being in a superior system is hard to tell. and as great of a defensive player as PG is, kawhi is just better

kawhi has that pippen post game tho, and george is really just a slasher and face up guy
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:58 (nine years ago) link
what non-center in the NBA has a better jump hook than Kawhi right now?
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:59 (nine years ago) link
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 11:58 PM (1 minute ago)
yeah i hate to compare people to pippen because i feel like it's overdone and pippen was just so, so, good, but kawhi does give me a lot of pippin vibes
― k3vin k., Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:01 (nine years ago) link
you're so right about the back to the basket game though, i hadn't really made that connection

i want to watch the end of this mavs/suns game but i can't figure out what channel it's on

re jump hook - wade and d lee are up there but wouldn't say better atm
there's really not many great 2-way small forwards. Rick Barry, LeBron, Pippen. Most tend to be tilted in one direction or the other.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:05 (nine years ago) link
am I the only person who thinks mavs v rockets won't exactly be a cakewalk for houston?
― slothroprhymes, Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:07 (nine years ago) link
it absolutely won't be now that houston is so depleted. i'd still take houston at home though

they looked pretty mediocre compared to the top western contenders until the all-star break its true, tho racked with injuries. tho pop playing rope-a-dope not outside the realm imo.

pat yourself on the back, think I've got a streak of like 7 years in a row writing them off at some point during the reg season
― #wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Thursday, 9 April 2015 20:36 (nine years ago) link
I'm a big thabo fan but I'm not buying this "boy things just got easier for the Cavs!" thing we're hearing. Bazemore just as good really.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:00 (nine years ago) link
The Spurs only looked bad when Kawhi was struggling/injured right? Idk. They kept losing overtime games on total variance stuff.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:01 (nine years ago) link
half their lineup was hurt for the first part of the season and they still managed to stay in the playoffs in the west. it was pretty obvious that if they got healthy they were gonna be fine
― k3vin k., Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:17 (nine years ago) link
wow had no idea thabo broke his ankle while getting arrested!

Kawhi's greatness reminds me of what the Celtics could have had with Len Bias and Reggie Lewis-- a seamless transition.

― #wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:37 (nine years ago) link
rly don't think the fate of the hawks was ever riding on a backup guard, also thabo would have been low on the list of players i'd pick to get a season-ending injury while getting arrested.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:49 (nine years ago) link
thabo is bad
― lag∞n, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:52 (nine years ago) link
I watch more sixers games than I should and I haven't seen this Nerlens offensive development that people talk about. I think most of it is just Ish Smith being a much better point guard for him.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:54 (nine years ago) link
every time it's a nerlens postup or iso it's the same awful awkwardness it's always been, sometimes the ball goes in I guess
As the New York Knicks' historically bad season mercifully nears an end, Derek Fisher sees no reason that the Knicks can't go from worst to first in a year.

I have a dream that the Knicks get the number one pick and Phil trades it for like vucevic and Tobias Harris bc they're in win now mode
― Clay, Thursday, 9 April 2015 23:52 (nine years ago) link
this is kinda a shitty year to have the number 1
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 23:53 (nine years ago) link
I have this feeling we may look back on the top 10 of this years draft and it will make more sense in reverse order.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 23:54 (nine years ago) link
I just wanna see Phil do dumb stuff but actually that trade might be a really good haul
― Clay, Thursday, 9 April 2015 23:55 (nine years ago) link
Phil has been pretty damn boring as a GM, which is what they need I guess
