has anyone written a good 'the fuck happened to the grizz' piece? if you took gs, sa, cle, and atl off the table and told me to pick a team to win it all i guess i'd go memphis cuz at one point this season they totally looked like that team to me. clips have been rated stronger than i'd expect in that hollinger rating almost all season but i have a hard time buying it, maybe i'm wrong. mavs would've regressed eventually and i don't think anybody thinks that trade worked out at all so i'm not going out on a limb here but after portland injury issues that seems like the biggest what if for the playoffs cuz if that offense could've stayed anywhere near where it was plus considering they were the only team to scare sa last year, they could've made things interesting.

jeff green, the bin laden plus-minus

k3vin k., Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:18 (nine years ago) link

Conley's been hurt, Marc is a lot less aggressive for some reason. I'd pick the Clips over them easy

tsrobodo, Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:20 (nine years ago) link

Yea read a thing about how much Jeff green minutes eating into tony Allens minutes (and later, injury) has messed with everything negatively

kawhi is who people thought paul george was. or wanted him to be. and more

I get what you're saying, but the Paul George Hype Squad thought he was more of an offensive highlight reel than Kawhi is.

Kawhi is like some terrifying combo of Pippen and Artest. Offensive game is way more physical and old school than anyone thought George's was. Also better than his was.

I hope he's just feeling bad about costing me 10k last night with that Justin Hamilton benching.

BTW as someone who's watched a lot of shitty basketball because of fantasy gambling: Hamilton is pretty good!

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:36 (nine years ago) link

george was doin some pretty crazy stuff on offense in the first couple months of last year

yeah there really were some TMac 2.0 moments, all kidding aside. That 3 pointer fest vs. portland I think it was.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:39 (nine years ago) link

I can't decide whether I love Vivek Ranadive's existence or hate it.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:43 (nine years ago) link

Vlade is highly qualified tho, it's not like they hired Mark Jackson or something.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:46 (nine years ago) link

it's not the selection of a particular individual as much as the "process" that went into it

you're right, but they're kind of similar actually! both killer midrange shooters, highlight-reel dunkers. neither are exactly pippen/iguodala with the ball handling/passing, though kawhi's better. and kawhi's the better team offensive player, though how much of that is due to being in a superior system is hard to tell. and as great of a defensive player as PG is, kawhi is just better

k3vin k., Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:54 (nine years ago) link

kawhi has that pippen post game tho, and george is really just a slasher and face up guy

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 03:58 (nine years ago) link

what non-center in the NBA has a better jump hook than Kawhi right now?

yeah i hate to compare people to pippen because i feel like it's overdone and pippen was just so, so, good, but kawhi does give me a lot of pippin vibes

k3vin k., Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:01 (nine years ago) link

you're so right about the back to the basket game though, i hadn't really made that connection

k3vin k., Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:02 (nine years ago) link

i want to watch the end of this mavs/suns game but i can't figure out what channel it's on

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:04 (nine years ago) link

re jump hook - wade and d lee are up there but wouldn't say better atm

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:04 (nine years ago) link

there's really not many great 2-way small forwards. Rick Barry, LeBron, Pippen. Most tend to be tilted in one direction or the other.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:05 (nine years ago) link

am I the only person who thinks mavs v rockets won't exactly be a cakewalk for houston?

slothroprhymes, Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:07 (nine years ago) link

it absolutely won't be now that houston is so depleted. i'd still take houston at home though

k3vin k., Thursday, 9 April 2015 04:08 (nine years ago) link

Spurs have tied the NBA record for consecutive wins by 12+ points.

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Thursday, 9 April 2015 20:26 (nine years ago) link

they looked pretty mediocre compared to the top western contenders until the all-star break its true, tho racked with injuries. tho pop playing rope-a-dope not outside the realm imo.

Clay, Thursday, 9 April 2015 20:27 (nine years ago) link

k3vin k., Thursday, 9 April 2015 20:31 (nine years ago) link

pat yourself on the back, think I've got a streak of like 7 years in a row writing them off at some point during the reg season

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Thursday, 9 April 2015 20:36 (nine years ago) link

I'm a big thabo fan but I'm not buying this "boy things just got easier for the Cavs!" thing we're hearing. Bazemore just as good really.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:00 (nine years ago) link

The Spurs only looked bad when Kawhi was struggling/injured right? Idk. They kept losing overtime games on total variance stuff.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:01 (nine years ago) link

half their lineup was hurt for the first part of the season and they still managed to stay in the playoffs in the west. it was pretty obvious that if they got healthy they were gonna be fine

k3vin k., Thursday, 9 April 2015 21:17 (nine years ago) link

wow had no idea thabo broke his ankle while getting arrested!

i will always write them off and some day it will be true hopefully before i die

Kawhi's greatness reminds me of what the Celtics could have had with Len Bias and Reggie Lewis-- a seamless transition.
