The two members of Hawks who were arrested, Thabo Sefolosha, 30, and Pero Antic, 32, refused to move when police tried to set up a crime scene, the sources said. They were charged with obstructing governmental administration.

whats the nbas policy on players who are caught up in court cases? is it just no worries until theres a conviction?

sounds like its nbd anyway
― micah, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 15:05 (nine years ago) link
im sure antic and sefolosha can come up w/ some sort of easy plea bargain, at best they receive some slap on the wrist suspension - like silver clearly cares about "integrity of the league" type stuff but it's not like an obstruction charge levied on dudes who were probably heated up, drunk & concerned about their friend is somehow indicative of moral failing in any minds other than the most tight-assed, and silver doesn't seem quite that type of tight-assed

lol obvs did not read the article
the jokey tone of this piece is terrible but theres some nice shotcharts in there http://grantland.com/the-triangle/nba-least-efficient-shooters-josh-smith-michael-carter-williams-trey-burke-nerlens-noel-dion-waiters/

i appreciate any excuse for deploying the j-smoove missed 3/SVG pain face vine
― slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 18:56 (nine years ago) link
it's pretty hilarious that the spot on dion's shot chart that is the most efficient (at least according to the rubric established) is the place he shoots the least, but then again i s'pose he could've just got lucky the times he did take shots there & is ultimately a bad shooter everywhere
this is the other reason why i am all about the pelis backing in (geaux pelis): keep dion waiters out of the playoffs as long as humanly possible
― slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 19:33 (nine years ago) link
xxp while i am not on team hate-grantland as much as you sometimes are, goon, i def agree re: this piece bc stuff like this is unfuriating:
So if you have a missed-shot fetish like I do, come meet me on Waiters Island. We’ll have the whole place to ourselves.
YOU'RE NOT ALONE, more than half your site's goddamn NBA writers won't shut the hell up about waiters as if those jokes & his bad basketball/worse personality were still funny, then again i'm talking about it & not just ignoring so in the end they win
― slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 19:37 (nine years ago) link
*infuriating
ya guys who arent funny trying so hard to make jokes is sad and lame, like how much better wld lowes columns be if he just played it straight (20%)

Lowe could keep trying to be funny but cut his word count in half and it'd be an even bigger improvement. he'll go for broke and do both. Concise and informative, what are the chances
oof sux xps
― Clay, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 19:47 (nine years ago) link
he'll supposed to be hell there, obv neither will ever happen.
at least lowe owns his inherent dorkiness & his corny jokes are just like dad humor, not getting in the way of readability (the wordiness sorta does that, but not too bad). and not this faux-edgy-millennial blogger shit that andrew sharp peddles to disguise his lowest common denominator/status quo ideas, or the weird smarm of goldsberry or the "PLEASE let me keep nick young relevant w/gossip items/fawn over prettyboy wite players" juliet litman style; she might be the most grating bc she def is a leaguepass junkie who understands the sport but is actively pretending not to in the NBA shit she writes/on the after dark podcast. (sidebar: man, i wish molly lambert cared about sports enough to sometimes write about them along w/her other stuff.)
OTOH, i continue to pay attention to their coverage bc of stuff like today's draymond green profile, which is really good & interesting

bummer about d-mo, there goes the only other likable rocket to the disabled list (unless terrence jones came back)
― slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 19:59 (nine years ago) link
I just don't and never have read those ppl other than the occasional goldsberry when it was relevant to my interest. I mean grantland has simmons dna and will always have that pop-culture hook and they need to skew young for clicks so it's unsurprising that's what their roster looks like.
― Clay, Wednesday, 8 April 2015 20:01 (nine years ago) link
you're a wiser person than i. obv i get myself into such holes of interwebs frustration by bothering to read stuff aside from the straight-up coverage in the first place, much like (for prob the 6th time i've made this reference, apologies) michael bluth seeing the bag marked DEAD DOVE and looking inside as if the dead dove won't be in there
