i'd say you didn't see any of it then, because delph was fucking rank and couldn't pass the ball, england looked a damn sight better when he came off. his replacement scored the goal even

assessing jack cork should have been the first thing on hodgson's friendly agenda imo

Is this better, or have a few better coaches at clubs just under top-class with a mandate to string a few English lads into a coherent system made this look better, is there a difference?

John Stones is a third rate defender the other two are one order better
Dele Alli looks a worryingly one note one paced one trick player when spurs aren't buzzing around him
Raheem Sterling is appallingly one footed.
Otherwise not bad.

Players of standard- rashford striking, Kane in general, AOC while carrying, Alli while running off the ball, Dier in fits. Clyne is better than adequate cover.
― passé aggresif (darraghmac), Monday, 4 September 2017 20:06 (six years ago) link
In particular, AOCs decision making and idk ?attention? when delivering pass, cross or shot stinks of a lad convinced throughout a full career that the end result of his efforts were either not important or not his problem or something it is alarming that this has been considered not a bigger issue

Clyne is better than adequate cover.
You just forfeited the right to castigate a fullback ever again.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 5 September 2017 08:32 (six years ago) link
I dunno what I'm missing with him tbh, he does an ok job but doesn't do anything as such
Tbh the rating of players that carry the ball well to no effect whatsoever is puzzling me, because it's an attribute seemingly hugely values for some reason
― passé aggresif (darraghmac), Tuesday, 5 September 2017 08:35 (six years ago) link
Clyne was complete bullshit most of the times I saw him for the second half of last season, maybe he'll improve but any continued first team place is going to be largely down to a paucity of reliable options at RB for Liverpool. I dunno I like the look of Joe Gomez but I think he sees himself as a CB in the longer term.
