i bet if u check his records at the juice college, his senior thesis is "like, what would happen if you put all your juice into ONE dude?: theoretical and empirical models of team juice distribution"

what are the chances of bogut making it to the finals with all his cartilage and ligaments intact?

micah, Monday, 30 March 2015 03:28 (nine years ago) link

That's all I think about all day every day

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Monday, 30 March 2015 03:31 (nine years ago) link

let me remind you that when you google "bogut" the first suggested search is "bogut injury"

micah, Monday, 30 March 2015 03:33 (nine years ago) link

he's been fine since he last came back, I would hope/assume that kerr rests him for at least a few of the remaining reg season games

are... are you saying you fucked a gazelle? (slothroprhymes), Monday, 30 March 2015 03:33 (nine years ago) link

props

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 03:48 (nine years ago) link

the clips are full of holes tho. the friggin celtics were down 40 to them today and the final deficit ended up being 13, if the celtics can fight back from that and make a serious enough dent, any team in the west could do that and win

― are... are you saying you fucked a gazelle? (slothroprhymes), Sunday, March 29, 2015 11:06 PM (3 minutes ago)

i was at this game and the clips took their starters out when it was a 25-30 pt game

Yes this is almost always how comebacks from deficits this large happen, often against teams with awful bench players like LA's.

every team shits the bed in the playoffs until the year that they don't

Come on, man

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 30 March 2015 04:40 (nine years ago) link

If the clippers did anything to improve their talent base I'd be interested but they are going in the opposite direction. Also if you root for them you should be ashamed of yourself.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 30 March 2015 04:41 (nine years ago) link

it's true that depth matters less in the playoffs but i think the fact that jj redick is their best wing player is going to burn the clippers in the first two rounds.

call all destroyer, Monday, 30 March 2015 14:28 (nine years ago) link

the supporting cast doc has assembled is borderline criminal, he started out with cp3-blake-dre-bledsoe and just failed at putting anyone around them, its very sad actually

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 15:04 (nine years ago) link

imagine if they had hired JVG instead of trading a first round pick for doc

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 15:18 (nine years ago) link

the clippers could make the finals

J0rdan S., Monday, 30 March 2015 15:33 (nine years ago) link

wld love to see cp3 n blake go ham this playoffs / am now a clippers fan just to spite all the h8rs itt

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 15:35 (nine years ago) link

you guys are slanting the odds way too heavily in favor of the best teams in the west imo

J0rdan S., Monday, 30 March 2015 15:36 (nine years ago) link

hollinger's odds have clippers as a more likely west finals participant than the spurs btw

J0rdan S., Monday, 30 March 2015 15:37 (nine years ago) link

yeah i feel like the spurs have been doing their thing playing well recently but theres a lot of time all sorts of things can happen

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 15:38 (nine years ago) link

houston could win two rounds too

J0rdan S., Monday, 30 March 2015 15:38 (nine years ago) link

lotta good teams out west

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 15:39 (nine years ago) link

only one i feel like has a real advantage is DUBS tbh

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 15:40 (nine years ago) link

i would 100% pick the warriors but saying the nba is a 4 team league at the very least puts way too much faith in the spurs imo

J0rdan S., Monday, 30 March 2015 15:41 (nine years ago) link

agreed

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 15:42 (nine years ago) link

also no eastern team has a chance so just forget abt cleve/hawks imho

you know what team can't win in the playoffs? the spurs. what kind of team with championship potential loses a first round series to the grizzlies? remember when they were 30 seconds from a title and kawhi shit his pants at the FT line and then they couldn't box out chris bosh, the guy who averaged 7 rebounds a game? except...all the times they didn't choke

you know who can't perform in the clutch? lebron. what kind of alpha dog gets swept his first finals appearance and then plays his worst basketball since his rookie year the next time he gets back there? until...he started winning rings

paul's teams have not done much in the playoffs but they've generally been lower seeded so it's not exactly shocking. and yeah, you look at their roster and you don't believe they are a real contender, but then you realize they have the best offense in the league and the 2nd best point differential. they have as good a shot as anyone. their roster certainly isn't worse than houston's, and somehow that team is the 2 seed right now

hollinger's odds don't take into account the fact that the spurs were beat up most of the year tho

houston obv on paper has as good a shot as anyone but i just have this gut feeling that they don't have enough talent to win more than 1 series. i mean they'll smoke the thunder or the mavs or whatever but i can't see them ever beating the warriors

Shooting since All-Star:
Russ: .416/.320/.870
Harden: .393/.328/.859
Steph: .485/.509/.963
CP: .517/.410/.903

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 16:32 (nine years ago) link

i know ive said this a million times but harden dominating the ball too much is imo a problem for houston in the playoffs, you need more sharing to get past prepared quality defnses

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 16:35 (nine years ago) link

heard Morey on a podcast from yesterday and he was claiming that hardens reliance on FT isn't a liability in tightly called playoff series because he is the best at beating his man and getting to the basket. seems like a rosy interp of his skills, and i am still totally unconvinced that houston is anything but a strong reg season team that is entirely dependent on possibly an outlier yr for harden. i dont buy dwight as a worthwhile contributor except on the defensive end and with Beverly out you're basically depending on harden to will the team to success which i don't feel like is reasonable in a seven game series against a competent WC team

I went one year without thinking about bron's fucked up foot

, Monday, 30 March 2015 17:04 (nine years ago) link

its crazy how an elite athlete can have such a messed up foot

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 17:05 (nine years ago) link

Probably is because he uses PEDs

, Monday, 30 March 2015 17:07 (nine years ago) link

maybe somehow that's the key to healthy feet/ankles all these years

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Monday, 30 March 2015 17:09 (nine years ago) link

nikes squeeze your foot #staywoke

J0rdan S., Monday, 30 March 2015 17:14 (nine years ago) link

JFC @ Bron's gnarled foot.

Nhex, Monday, 30 March 2015 18:17 (nine years ago) link

so the rockets are probably done as a contender now

k3vin k., Monday, 30 March 2015 18:19 (nine years ago) link

wtf kind of dark elf casted Cripple Limb on bron?

Clay, Monday, 30 March 2015 18:21 (nine years ago) link

wha happened

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 18:22 (nine years ago) link

feel like they could maybe weather the beverley thing if dwight comes back and fortifies the back line and they can find a few guys to make shots off the ball but yeah it's not promising

J0rdan S., Monday, 30 March 2015 18:23 (nine years ago) link

like the warriors could weather an injury to one of their secondary guys but the rockets are already so thin as it is

k3vin k., Monday, 30 March 2015 18:26 (nine years ago) link

paul's teams have not done much in the playoffs but they've generally been lower seeded so it's not exactly shocking. and yeah, you look at their roster and you don't believe they are a real contender, but then you realize they have the best offense in the league and the 2nd best point differential. they have as good a shot as anyone. their roster certainly isn't worse than houston's, and somehow that team is the 2 seed right now

Maybe your estimate of the team with the better record not having a superior roster is incorrect.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 30 March 2015 18:31 (nine years ago) link

As for all teams crashing in the playoffs until they don't, tell that to the KG Timberwolves, the Payton Sonics etc etc

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 30 March 2015 18:46 (nine years ago) link

peyton made it to the finals

lag∞n, Monday, 30 March 2015 18:47 (nine years ago) link

i think they're pretty comparable, and now that beverly's out i like the clips xxp

k3vin k., Monday, 30 March 2015 18:47 (nine years ago) link

the point is you can't say there's something inherent to paul's game that's keeping his teams out of the finals. if it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't. it's certainly not his fault

k3vin k., Monday, 30 March 2015 18:48 (nine years ago) link

i mean if paul had the good fortune to play in the eastern conference how many finals appearances does he have right now?

k3vin k., Monday, 30 March 2015 18:49 (nine years ago) link

fun exercise: go count all the 50-win teams lebron's beaten in the playoffs. it won't take long

k3vin k., Monday, 30 March 2015 18:49 (nine years ago) link

Oh sure Paul's awesome and all that, but some teams crash and burn a lot in the playoffs a lot for real reasons such as being coached by George Karl

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 30 March 2015 18:50 (nine years ago) link

haha :(
