west coast hood videos are always the best hood videos imo

no one is touching him now. the first 5 lines of his first verse on king kunta takes him 20 seconds. the way he rides this beat with the confidence to let these big groove silences between lines and pull it off like this? in fact how he approaches his "verses" creatively in general on this album is as progressive as anyone has got since, idk

itrulybelieve he's reinventing rap in some way with this album

and showing artist growth like I didn't think existed anymore

OTM, one thing this VERY IMPORTANT and VERY POLITICAL and VERY BLACK and VERY CONCEPT-ORIENTED album doesn't get enough credit for is being fun
twenty or so spins later, it's a surprising comfort listen with very few cuts (i'm looking at you "for free" and "i")

yeah i think his sense of humor and playfulness and ear for hooks come out in this album much more than GKMC
