like u cant stretch the floor if no one bothers to guard u

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:11 (nine years ago) link

i think golden state is a bad match up for memphis

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:12 (nine years ago) link

wld be an intersting battle of contrasting styles

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:12 (nine years ago) link

i dunno man his one-on-one post defense is pretty awesome

this is such a small part of D in todays nba, and i suspect a good bigger post player wld find ways to take advantage of him with playoff preperation

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:14 (nine years ago) link

yeah it's not a huge thing but i dunno have you seen him guard dirk? he can't drive past him or post him up. i mean dirk is ancient so whatever but draymond's versatility seems pretty real to me.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:17 (nine years ago) link

like i think if he played one-on-one vs a lot of wings and bigs in the NBA they wouldn't be able to score

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:17 (nine years ago) link

i mean dray is a cool player and all dont get me wrong, but hes just a role player who fits really well w the dubs line up and what they do and they are having a classic season mostly because of players better than him

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:18 (nine years ago) link

Think the praise has to be at least somewhat warranted seeing as their defense didn't slip while Bogut was out.

its too bad this isnt the first round matchup, i mean obvs the mavs wld get destroyed but wld like to see dirk go at dray, one thing is the mavs havent been using dirk in the high post that much this year one wld assume to save his body for the playoffs, but if hes at all physically right and they just go to him at his elbow spot cant see how he doesnt just shoot over dray every time, granted if his mobility is bad and he cant really drive off the overplay that makes things a lil more difficult but still

it slipped a lot!

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:21 (nine years ago) link

Idunno heard Stein say different and I'm inclined to agree. they went 10 - 3 and gave up over 100 points in less than half those games

this is true offensively but not defensively

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:27 (nine years ago) link

their defense was really good last year with a much lesser role for him

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:28 (nine years ago) link

i mean bogut is the guy defensively

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:31 (nine years ago) link

but also they just play really good team D

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:31 (nine years ago) link

they were good but not the best

bogut is def the guy on D, but draymond is the klay to his steph

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 March 2015 15:38 (nine years ago) link

considering who else defenses have to deal with on GS thats borderline dont even bother to guard him territory

― lag∞n, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 11:04 AM (48 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

steph, klay, ___?

i mean he's not a first option but a floor-spacing big is rarely going to be the first option, kevin love style. and his shooting has improved over the course of the season, and there's no reason to think he can't work on it and be a good 3pt shooter

another interesting GSW storyline is how klay'so fallen off a cliff for the second straight spring

its been fairly consistent fwiw

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 17:48 (nine years ago) link

started out way hot then semi-slumped then back up to normal. He shoots just good enough to keep defenses honest. HIs best asset on offense is pushing the ball up.

Steph def def (Spottie), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 17:54 (nine years ago) link

obvs its a pretty complex calculation but i might in my role as imaginary nba coach leave him open from deep

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 17:57 (nine years ago) link

dirk has been hobbling around all year and not playing very well generally i wldnt get to excited abt the job dray did, unless u have some reason to think he cldve accomplished that few years ago

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 17:57 (nine years ago) link

yeah dirk old for sure but theres no reason that matchup would fair better for dirk if they met in the playoffs

Steph def def (Spottie), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 17:59 (nine years ago) link

greg monroe is the only player I've seen truly own him in the post, consistently anyway

Steph def def (Spottie), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:00 (nine years ago) link

there at least as much reason to think it wld than it wldnt prob more xp

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:00 (nine years ago) link

i am with you about draymond but we've probably already had this convo four times this year.

he's v important to the warriors successes so in this system he's not overrated

i just wish you'd be this skeptical of kevin love

are... are you saying you fucked a gazelle? (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:06 (nine years ago) link

dray pre/post ASB btw .432/.330/.683 & .467/.368/.631

k3vin k., Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:07 (nine years ago) link

the love situation is different, it's the opposite actually, it's very clear love is good enough to be a stud. love's struggles this year can better be ascribed to the lebron effect/not being used right

k3vin k., Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:08 (nine years ago) link

yeah but if u look at his monthly splits its all over the place, looks p much just like the variance youd expect from a 34% 3pt shooter xp

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:09 (nine years ago) link

all thats stuff from love's mike and mike interview was v sad

its true he's definitely being used wrong and can't be a 3rd/2nd banana but i don't know where he'd be suited for a 1st banana role honestly (which has to do with team situations, not necessarily his abilities)

are... are you saying you fucked a gazelle? (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:15 (nine years ago) link

boston celtics

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:16 (nine years ago) link

(*prepares to eat metric tons of crow if k-love comes to the celtics and is massively successful, simultaneously does not really see it happening *)

are... are you saying you fucked a gazelle? (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:16 (nine years ago) link

i mean the celtics dont necessarily have the right pieces to put around him right now but with all their assets theyre prob the team in the best position to remake their roster through trades, also coach brad has already proven himself ingenious at carving out just the right roles for players, which seems like a quality that might be especially aprecited by kevin love at the moment

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:20 (nine years ago) link

also its is loves destiny to play in boston

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 18:20 (nine years ago) link

i could see there being a playoff game tho where they lose because dray shoots 1-8 on threes

Anyone can go 1-8 on threes, even Steph. But one of the things I like about Draymond is that he isn't doesn't have that irrational confidence thing where he falls in love with his shot even when it isn't working.

Anyway, if we lose because the Warriors passed the ball a bunch and Draymond wound up bricking some open looks, I will take that in a heartbeat over Jordan Crawford running iso, shooting off-balance twos.

i dont think the warriors will lose, like theyve been the best offensive team and the best defensive team all year but no one wants to say they are heavy favorites
