xp if OKC doesn't ruin his foot

segue from that - if they got a title next year for KD's last hurrah (which is prob their best course of action, they could start preparing for it now tbh) you think he'd still book it? or would it not matter/is the franchise too snakebit for that to really happen

*xxp

beal is good if he hadn't gotten injured & been kinda shaky afterward i think he could've been a reserve this year

it just occurred to me that washington may have built the new old atlanta hawks--good enough for a 4/5 seed in the east for several years running.

better get kd.

hm yeah. or a real coach

k3vin k., Tuesday, 24 March 2015 17:58 (nine years ago) link

both

The Wizards don't have a very good roster.

I mean they have Wall, and then a bunch of guys who are borderline starters, and then a bunch of guys.

beal and gorat are both good

Pierce and Nene are cooked. Good for a good game every 3-4 games

Steph def def (Spottie), Tuesday, 24 March 2015 18:25 (nine years ago) link

their bench looked solid coming into the year but it hasn't really worked out + injuries slowed them down + coach blows

this is a bit harsh but not totally wrong

k3vin k., Tuesday, 24 March 2015 21:46 (nine years ago) link

wall and beal (still only 21) are legitimate franchise pieces, but the wizards historically have had a horrific ownership and lucking into wall and ending up with beal never changed that.

they signed martell webster on a huge overpay. the otto porter and jan vesley draft picks were disasters. i mean they had one whole draft where they picked vesley and chris singleton smh.

even the nene and gortat moves were seen as big gambles at the time and though they brought them up to a certain level of competitiveness and respectability this clearly is not a front office that understands how to think longterm.

and then of course the continued employment of a coach with a career winning percentage of 39%

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 March 2015 22:31 (nine years ago) link

wall and to some extent beal are basically the only things that have kept the wizards from being the knicks, basically

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 March 2015 22:32 (nine years ago) link

pretty big pieces tho

Steph def def (Spottie), Tuesday, 24 March 2015 22:34 (nine years ago) link

i think wall and beal are good enough as a foundation to break out of the hawks 4/5 bracket but you'd need a total front office and coaching staff overhaul to make that happen but ted leonsis is obstinate as fuck

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 March 2015 22:34 (nine years ago) link

Andrew Sharp @andrewsharp · 18h 18 hours ago
The Wizards could have drafted Steph, Klay, Barnes, and Draymond. Also re-signed Randy WIttman the same year Kerr was available. Goodnight.

this about sums it up

maybe "the only thing keeping them from being the t wolves" is slightly more accurate

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 March 2015 22:35 (nine years ago) link

haha

everyone coulda drafted draymond tho

Steph def def (Spottie), Tuesday, 24 March 2015 22:38 (nine years ago) link

not gonna pretend I have more bball IQ than NBA brains but I remember being very perplexed as to why Draymond wasn't a higher draft prospect after seeing how he played at MSU.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 March 2015 22:51 (nine years ago) link

Oh wow the wizards could have drafted BARNES?!?!? My gosh what a blunder

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 March 2015 22:52 (nine years ago) link

They drafted Bradley Beal instead, I don't think they're losing sleep over it

rough, hope he figures it out

To me Beal is like the 15-20th best SG in the NBA. Which is pretty good for a 21 yo guy but nothing to write home about.

Yeah but Barnes is just a role player himself.

sorry xpost I wasn't talking up Barnes believe me.

y'all just demonstrating the narrow-mindedness and orthodoxy that dictates nba head office thinking

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 24 March 2015 23:23 (nine years ago) link

draymond has developed into a better shooter than he probably needs to be, I don't see why shooting problems would be a reason not to take a chance on a promising big man, but given that he's gotten pretty decent at it I guess it doesn't matter now

are... are you saying you fucked a gazelle? (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 00:09 (nine years ago) link

I think I remember liking draymond but more like I bet this guy catches on to a rotation somewhere as a Luis Scola type not I'm sure this guy will be the Swiss Army knife of a title contender for sure
