Bei Kevin Wimmer gibt’s jeden Morgen einen warmen Kakao und ein Nutella-Brot.

Tottenham wanted to get rid of England new boy Harry Kane in January 2014, only for Tim Sherwood to step in and keep him at White Hart Lane - reckons the ex-Spurs boss.

surely they just wanted to loan him out, not sell him?

In 2020 when Harry Kane is the new Messi, Mansfield Town manager Tim Sherwood will still be dining out on that story.

Matt DC, Thursday, 19 March 2015 16:55 (nine years ago) link

So what can Tottenham fans expect of their effectively new centre back? Wimmer is calm, intelligent in build-up play, pretty tall but is still raw and has some errors in his game. According to his coach, he isn't one of those naturally gifted players, but is making up for it with a sublime work ethic. Wimmer doesn't shine or standout with special abilities but is without significant weaknesses too. Some in Cologne say the transfer is happening too early – but if someone is capable to prove a point, it's arguably Kevin Wimmer.

fee supposedly agreed. Kevin Wimmer, second most expensive Austrian footballer of all time.

Roberto Soldado has been directly involved in all four of Villarreal's league goals this season (two goals, two assists)

mizzell, Saturday, 29 August 2015 04:05 (eight years ago) link

I know Adebayor is a cock and a hugely inconsistent one at that but freezing him out entirely with only one proper CF on the book strikes me as asking for trouble. Can Njie play there if required?

Matt DC, Thursday, 3 September 2015 15:24 (eight years ago) link

Son or maybe even Chadli probably better suited than Njie. Before last season, most things I read about Kane said that he was most suited to playing behind a #9.
Son just scored a hat trick against Laos, so there's obviously nothing to worry about.

mizzell, Thursday, 3 September 2015 15:48 (eight years ago) link

Njie "was named in the squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations,[14] and played in one group stage match, coming on as a 67th minute substitute in a 1–0 loss to Ivory Coast.[15] Following the 2015 Cup of Nations, he continued his lethal form for Cameroon by scoring once against Thailand in March 2015,[16] and bagging a brace against Burkina Faso in June 2015.[17]"

Matt DC, Thursday, 3 September 2015 15:52 (eight years ago) link

I don't think Berahino is really good enough to inspire such a long and obviously distracting transfer saga either. Excited for the new guys though.

Deems with everyone fit, what's your preferred front six?

Matt DC, Monday, 2 November 2015 10:36 (eight years ago) link

Ooof

Not seen enough of son tbh....

Get back to you on it.

Yours?

Alli-Dier double pivot definitely, they controlled the midfield against the best team in the league and our general defensive solidity this season has been in no small part down to them. There might be times where a bit more worldliness is called upon but I can't see Bentaleb or Mason exactly providing that either.

Eriksen in front of them, obviously.

Lamela has been looking better and better this season and I think dropping him now would be disastrous for that momentum, so him on the RW with Son on the left, or swapping over.

Kane upfront durr.

N'jie as pacey impact sub, Chadli/Dembele as cover, Bentaleb if you need three in central midfield, Townsend at Sunderland.

Matt DC, Monday, 2 November 2015 14:07 (eight years ago) link

Don't really see what Mason provides that Alli isn't already doing better.

Matt DC, Monday, 2 November 2015 14:09 (eight years ago) link

mason's distribution is probably a bit better than alli's but there's not much in it between those four, just go with whoever's in form. lamela does seem to be still improving but atm I'd slightly prefer chadli, for temperament if nothing else. I'd like to see a swift kaneless attack at some point too, n'jie, son & mb alli in a more advanced role

ogmor, Monday, 2 November 2015 14:48 (eight years ago) link

Mason not as penetrative as alli and prone to silly losses of possession.

Chadli/dembele I like but yeah short of a huge improvement in consistency they're good bench options.

Feel like waiting for lamela to become a 30m player is never gonna happen but I've no prob embracing him as first xi scrappy winger.

N'jie and Son I've yet to see so I guess Kane, Eriksen, Alli, Dier, Lamela and Dembele with latter vulnerable

Quite happy with bentaleb, mason, dembele bench options when you look at our midfield historically

N'jie is very fast and quite tricky but some of his decision-making looks pretty suspect at the moment, expect Poch to work on that though.

Son has looked very classy so far but I can't see him winning many tackles so playing him in front of Danny Rose is not going to work.

Given I already have tickets for all three group games I have mixed feelings about that group. It's a bit Europa really.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 25 August 2016 18:58 (seven years ago) link

Plenty potential for Spurs to finish third and end up in the fucking Europa again. I'd rather they go out having played Barca or Milan rather than some tame 1-0 defeat in Moscow.

Kane and Alli vs Akinfeev, Berezutsky, Ignashevich and Shennikov - what could possibly go wro...

No, on current form, and fully accepting that on their day Spurs can lose to anyone in the world, they should be ok against CSKA. Monaco are much weaker than they were two years ago. Leverkusen are good, though.

xps Davies hasn't even been bad, there's just a glaring lack of finesse and vision compared to his teammates (even the ones who are often dense and drive me nuts)

Monaco are much weaker than they were two years ago.

hmmm

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 22:05 (seven years ago) link

They are, though they have had a terrific start to the season. Man-for-man it's a weaker team but Jardim is still an excellent manager. I missed the first half hour so didn't see them at their best but the last 45 minutes at least was all Spurs, though without a great deal of quality to show for it.

On a Raqqa tip (ShariVari), Wednesday, 14 September 2016 22:10 (seven years ago) link

I was at the game and while the first 15mins were all Spurs it seemed inevitable that Monaco would score with their first attack. Dier was being asked to do way too much (and he's off the boil in any case) and they kept running through our midfield until Dembele came on.

Should really have brought Sissoko on earlier, there was a sense that something might happen every time he ran at them, although a right flank of Sissoko and Walker is both terrifying and a disaster waiting to happen.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 22:19 (seven years ago) link

Spurs all over CSKA in opening 30 minutes.

We'll concede any minute now.

groovypanda, Tuesday, 27 September 2016 19:14 (seven years ago) link

Spurs look hugely vulnerable atm and have barely created anything. They can step up several gears though.

Not sure subbing Janssen instead is a wise move.
