mchale was awesome but the three bise mentioned, karl malone, charles barkley, elgin baylor (i think he was a 4?), chris webber, bob pettit, elvin hayes i mean there's some guys, brow & LMA & bosh & blake & love all probably could get there in time

yeah some of these are fair but mchale is still prob top 10 for the moment, he made 6 all-defensive teams and shot over 60% as a forward in his prime, i don't see bosh/blake/love/lma accomplishing anything like that

Had mchale never broken his foot he could very well have been the greatest.

How is duncan more centery than mchale

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:00 (nine years ago) link

Melvin Hunt might keep this job

― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 11:58 PM (Yesterday)

hard to tell if it's anything specific he's bringing or if it's just addition by subtraction, but i like it

le goon...peak/mvp-winning duncan was a pf bc d-rob was C. after robinson retires, duncan is a C. so i agree with you.

btw in my mind, i only rank kareem, wilt, billy russ, and olajuwon ahead of duncan in all time centers.

duncan is generally the biggest guy on his team plays closest to the basket and guards the other teams center, mchale was not

I thought they should have just promoted Hunt when they fired Karl, he did a great job

Rasho was the center after D Rob.

wau spurs fan putting hakeem ahead of duncan, you must just be being modest

Duncan was not bigger than d rob, Rasho, about the same size as Tiago.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:03 (nine years ago) link

rasho is not a real person, shut up with that argument

yeah i mean calling him a pf an obvs artifact of coming into the league on a team that already had a center but his natural position is clearly center

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:04 (nine years ago) link

look, he's listed as a pf/c, so he's both

Wrong, he was an elite defender for a spurs team that won a title. No one seemed to care or notice that he was blocking all those shots but it won games.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:09 (nine years ago) link

any fanbase hostile to the rockets is a fine and noble fanbase imo

big homie rasho lost his starting job to an isaiah thomas traded journeyman. that team had GOAT manu, peak duncan, over-the-yips parker, bob horry, and you wanna talk to me about rasho's ok defense i just wanna buy you a drink of something you wont like but will be too polite to say anything about thats how mad i am at you

things don't really get honestly heated on ilh until granny dainger shows up in one of his moods

WHY ARE YOU HERE MATT ARMSTRONG THIS IS A TERRIBLE ASS ARGUMENT

Why do you hate the guy who was the starting center for some of your franchise's best teams? He was good.

i bet you got a spreadsheet ready right now you better because this some revisionist history wellactuallyism bullshit

good point, I remember the first time I saw that happen as a complete ilh/ilx newcomer and was like "....k then?"

slothroprhymes, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:15 (nine years ago) link

Anyway, Rasho was the starting center on the spurs for 3 years, he didn't guard 4s, he was as big or bigger than Duncan, still waiting to hear about mchale's superior power forwardness

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:15 (nine years ago) link

meanwhile, this game is pretty great

slothroprhymes, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:16 (nine years ago) link

nothing will ever top deej posting as a highly defensive bulls fan during one of the early playoff runs with d-rose, that was wonderful

the ONE champ squad he was on, he avg'd less than 10 minutes a game. he scored a total of 10 points in 15 games. ARMSTRONG. SWEATER GOD. are we on the same planet? what color did you see on that dress, come on

brosario nawson (m bison), Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:18 (nine years ago) link

lol i would gladly skim through gd going nuclear on some foreign policy thread or like about The Wire or something

Stats say he played good defense and so did the eyeball test if you weren't biased by his gentle disposition and innocently receding hairline

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:18 (nine years ago) link

yeah btw this is not real beef altho armstrong is deeply deeply wrong about rasho

one of the biggest things for me about the eye test is minutes played because my eye test was saying "wow rasho is doing a lot of sitting the hell down in these playoffs in this the 2005th year of our lord hmm"

Nazr Mohammed: another very large human that plays close to the basket, which is weird if duncan is always the closest and biggest on court

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:21 (nine years ago) link

meyers has been shooting threes all year! it's just when he makes two in a row you're like wow hm what spell has been cast on this man

Clay, Thursday, 12 March 2015 04:21 (nine years ago) link

look im funning you 'strong, he got a lot of blocks, he just didnt do much in the playoffs, thats where his rep was sealed for me
