Someone in another thread (maybe on "I Just Called To Say I Love You") compared this era to Wendy Carlos, and I always think of this now and enjoy it even more.

Positive I voted "Do I Do" but I genuinely like all of these songs outside of the obvious dud.

"Do I Do" and "That Girl" still remain two of the best new tracks recorded for a comp.

It's mind-blowing that "September" and "Do I Do" both fall into that category.

I've loved "Master Blaster" since it came out. Most of the other songs here have "skeletons" of good melodies/chord progressions, but the arrangements/productions sap the energy. He also started dragging songs out a couple of minutes too long.

"That Girl" should have won in a walk. And the poll should have had many more voters. (This comes from a guy who didn't vote, of course. But I missed the poll!)

There should also be a poll for best songs recorded for comps. Thinking "Sidewalking" by the Mary Chain, maybe "Sound of Crying" by Prefab Sprout. Surely countless others but how to track them all down. Maybe just a thread.

With Overjoyed I was never able to get past the usual schmaltzy production criticisms of Stevie's 80s output, but I've really come to deeply love it as a jazz standard. lots of great covers
